These should also be considered rare in that case, shouldn't they?
@jackzfiml Makes sense, although people have different opinions on "rare" usernames. Some only count the ones that are invalid, and some also count the ones that are not invalid that are a popular word (e.g. Meme).
Also, usernames that only have 3 characters or less are not the only type of accounts that are invalid. There's also the accounts that are a banned word and the ones that exceed 21 characters.
@Ihavenoname248 Is that THE Ihavenoname that I know from SM63??
There is and there will be no way of determining who the best speedrunner is.
@Matse007 Also, filtered search is basically what I meant in my idea, I don't know if the way I typed it out is easily misinterpreted or not. Hopefully it isn't.
I've seen a surprising amount of activity from the ELO moderators, so I don't think they reply to some of these threads as rarely as you may think. They even replied to threads from 2 days ago or so.
@Matse007 I'd like to clarify that these weren't supposed to be something that the site desperately needs, those were meant to be QoL improvements.
No one needs the views system for profiles, but then again, there's so many sites that have it anyway. I personally think it would be nice to know how many views someone pulls on their profile, although it's something that the site definitely doesn't need desperately.
The point of seeing how many views the guides have is to know if anyone even bothers to look at them, some of these guides take hours to make and we have no idea how useful they are for the community if we can't know how many people have clicked on the link of the guide. By that logic, why have views for forum threads then? You can just see the amount of replies it has and you can probably estimate if the thread is popular or not.
What do you guys think of these, and if there's any ELO mods in here, I'd like to hear if what we came up with is something that you might consider doing in the future.
Yesterday I was talking with a friend in voice chat when I showed him speedrun.com. He has never seen the site before and he had some ideas for the site so I thought I'd share them here:
- An easier way to search for usernames. Right now, if you try to find an username, for example Hi, it will give you a few names that start with Hi but it will not give you the option to see my profile, and it can be annoying. A solution to this would be to give the exact name that is being searched for, case sensitive or not (so if you'd search for Hi, you would only see my profile and no one else's). Also make a way to choose if you want to search for games, series or users, because right now it will give search results for all 3.
- A way to see how many people visit your profile a.k.a a views system for profiles.
- Views system for guides. Guides are the only things in a speedgame that you can't see how many people have viewed them. Would be cool to see how many people check out those guides.
Depends on what you mean by BTT, because it can have various meanings.
SMB1 doesn't have BTT, it has a Human TAS instead, and that is 4:54.6xx if I recall correctly. However, that time is almost a framerule slower than Niftski's Sum Of Best for Any%, which is a 4:54.3xx. So, depends on which one of these you consider the Best Theoretical Time.
Is Easter Garden banned from the solo/doubles leaderboard? I got a fast time on it in doubles but I heard from people that it's banned because it's Easter exclusive.
@Mingura666 When you do a fast powerup grab, note that you have to slow down a lot to actually grab the powerup from inside the block. Doing corner boosts in this game is impossible at running speed, you either jump too early and hit the block or if you jump a frame later you don't hit the block. The only way to get closer to the right side of the screen in 4-1 would be to do backwards bumps, and you can probably tell that they lose time over not doing them.
Also, in 4-1, you need to save a lot more frames than in 1-1 or 4-2 (where you only need 1) to save another framerule, so 4-1 would probably not be the right level to look into if we want to make 4:53 happen. But, I appreciate the theory you made.
I don't know how familiar you are with this game, but know that in the past decade only 1 frame of timesave was found for Any% in the turnaround room.
Even though you see that the no L+R TAS is a 4:54.032, which probably makes you think "4:53 is literally right there, just gotta save 2 more frames somewhere", know that people have been scrambling their heads to find ways to save even just 1 more frame for over 10 years now. I personally don't think 4:53 is going to happen any time in the near future, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
By pausing at the peak of mario's jump, then spinning and pausing right after, you go into the fludd tab of the pause screen, click on "none" fludd. After unpausing you get a tiny bit of additional height. This can be done indefinitely to gain height.
