Just to precise, you need to press backspace to exit the cutscene.
You have to jump when the timer is at 0.02, precisely.
I get some of your points, but I don't get the one about the number of categories. We don't have a huge ammount of categories so far and half of them aren't even played, so why not create one that we actually want and that would be played ? Also as I said it'd feel a little bit unfair to compare runs that have limitations to the ones that haven't, so i wouldn't be encouraged to upload my glitchless run there. Though you're right about any% being supposedly the fastest category, so I'd be happy to upload my real any% run there.
Hey, so I've been wanting to speedrun that game for about 2 years now and i finally found a friend who'd like that too hurray
But we'd both prefer to play it glitchless and find it a little sad that there's no glitchless category. The puzzles that are skipped take at least like 3 minutes of the run, so i feel like runs that are glitchless and the ones that aren't shouldn't be compared in the same leaderboard. Also glitchless is a little more memory heavy so that makes it a little harder to compare too :3
So how about making that Glitchless any% category ? :)
I know a bunch of you saw that already, but I'll just post it to make sure anyone who'd be interested in watching it can find it easily :)
Also even though it doesn't contain every single sickest strat that could be done, I believe this can be a good condensed humanly-possible ILs tutorial :]
So here, ENJOY :
What azorokazu said is true, though remember that the absolutely awesome original musics you can have on PC aren't on Xbox versions. (which still doesn't change anything for practicing speedrunning, right)
You simply record your game while playing all the light levels from the 5 first chapters with Naija, and that's all. The goal is to finish them in a single segment, which means without pausing, cutting the video or any other edits added to the video you are recording, or at least when the timer is still running. Also you can stream your process if you want to share it with people in real time.
For you to have Naija you need to have unlocked at least 50 bandages, and for you to run the levels you need to have beaten at least the 4 first bosses already in your game save. The save file is located in your game installation folder, under "userdata", it's named "savegame.dat". You can use OBS to record or/and stream, it's free. There are plenty of tutorials on the internet to teach you how to use it. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=How+to+use+OBS You can use Livesplit as a timer, it's free too. To learn how use it, same deal. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=How+to+use+Livesplit
I didn't try it yet, can we use other characters than meat boy ?
I just realized a version of the darker world for salt factory already exists (called "salt factory xx" by Birdmasteri), it's going to be harder if you want to make completely original levels for this chapter :/ Though you can take inspiration from it I suppose
I'm not against steam broadcasting or anything, but what if we don't have you as a friend on it ? Also it's laggier than twitch.
This is absolutely AMAZING !! Everyone has been waiting for an smb2 for so long, and even though it's not quite that, it gives the same feeling. I really can't wait for this, but I'll be patient, take the time needed to make something really awesome please.
Hi meat boy people c:
I'm asking this here because I couldn't find an answer by asking to individual people or on google. You know the auto-splitting thing (made by a cool guy named Cryze it seems) that you can enable in livesplit for Any% (maybe also working for other categories, dunno). I was wondering if there would be some way to only enable it for specified splits, like 1 split every chapter for example. Does anyone know if it's possible please ?
Thanks for the answers if anyone knows
I vote for Obama to comment the runs.
Your answer opens my eyes a little more on some points, thank you for that.
I'm only reading your message now Matte sorry. It's only my opinion obviously but I do think it saves more than 10 secs.
Alright, I understand you guys's points of views.
To Kingshrooms : Yea you're right, and that's why I don't insist on the idea of Alt 106% or Alt DE. I don't think it would be super fun to me, or at least not as fun as the other categories. Now about the Any% Glitchless category I already do that but there's no particular category dedicated to it.
To Uber : I know this glitch isnn't truly game changing, though it permits skips that can offer up to 30+ seconds of advance on a complete run, which can be a real difference especially when it comes to sub 19.
To Yjijiy : It is true that all the any% tricks are possible in glitchless, though someone who doesn't want to play with this glitch (and there are already many people in this case) shouldn't be placed in the same leaderboard as the ones who do, simply because it would need more skills to achieve the same time in a run. It's (even though not as different) a little like putting alt any% in the same leaderboard as Any%. I just don't think runs which use a glitch that permits to bounce the fastest way possible should be compared to ones that use jumps that are fast or slow depending on the skill level of the runner.
