Are there any restrictions on settings? It's not quite clear to me which settings are allowed, from the leaderboard runs alone. The game rules are not specific about this, so I assume that any settings are allowed?

Honestly, I have no clue what the settings even look like anymore. I never really thought about restrictions on settings anyway, but I could check one of these days.

It seems standard to use the easiest difficulty from the runs on the leaderboard. Would it also be OK to change the unlockable settings, especially the ones influecing with how much time you start and how much time you gain per boss kill?

Putting it on easy is allowed for sure.
