Those that are running NG+ have technically completed the game 2/3 times before they've started doing the speedrun. That's at least 2 playthroughs if you completed your first under 4 hours (to get the circular saw) before you've even got to the actual speedrun.

A true NG+ would be just using the Albert were a NG++ would be Albert/circular saw/infinite ammo.

Maybe I'm just being anal about it but thought I would post my thoughts.

The idea of NG+ is you're starting the game with whatever bonuses the game provides after beating it. You can beat the game on madhouse and unlock like, everything straight away, so your next run is NG+.

I think it's a little too picky to start going into those kinda of terminologys

madhouse isn't available right away it wasn't for me so I would have to play through it twice at least to get everything.

While we're at it, let's have categories for everyone's X time playing the game. For example, if it were your 8th time playing the game you would file it under the NG++++++++ category. /s

I agree with Liv, NG+ is broad imo

Yeah no need for an NG++ category.. Just suck it up and play through madhouse. You could always get a late game madhouse save I suppose.

I don't plan to run the category just thought the term didn't really count towards what the run requires which is a minimum of 2 playthroughs before you even speedrun. This doesn't apply to ps4 users they got madhouse unlocked early as a pre order bonus.

I mean, you're not wrong per se. It's just that having NG, NG+ and the NG++ category is too much. It's better to just merge NG+ and NG++ into one because one of the two are just not going to be ran as often.

After all, we're speedrunning the game and let's face it, the winner of those two categories would be NG++ either way because it is the fastest. NG+ would be ran less and would eventually be removed like the Normal category was just removed for having few, if any, runs registered.

I preordered on PC and god madhouse first time. NG+ isn't meaning "needs to have played through a set amount of times previously"

Heck you can just download a save with everything on it and never have played through the game before

Really terms are all just personal preference. In terms of speedrunning though, all post-game content is usually just thrown into a single "NG+" section. As it makes no sense for a slower version of NG+ to even exist on any boards.

The Circular Saw can be NG++ content, but technically it can also be NG+ content, too. This is why redundant factors like this don't come into speedrun categories. It just creates unneeded confusion and mess that doesn't really belong.
