so I currently dont have a solid way of recording my 3ds without a capture card which A. costs a lot of money I do not have and B. I heard got discontinued or something so im not even sure if I could even get a way to record this game on my 3ds that way, however I have citra a 3ds emulator that I can use to record the game. what I did was I homebrewed my 3ds and copied the game files over to my computer thru putting the sd card into my computer and downloaded it to play on citra. my problem is tho that I looked at the submit a run and it said emu is banned is there a solid good reason why? cuz if not it would be nice to allow emulation for ppl with no money or means to record 3ds games other than emu to run. if ur worried about speedup and such I dont think that will be a problem cuz A. it would be super easyto notice during a run B. I dont think citra has a speed up button and if so I havnt found it yet. in any case im looking to run this game possibly but the biggest problem in my way is either a way to record it with my actual 3ds fluently or allowing emulation onto the page. thank u for ur time.
The biggest problem with emulation, which is common to every "recent" platforms is that it is inaccurate when it emulates the console. I don't know how developed is Citra, but I'm pretty sure accuracy is the main reason why it's banned. And if the emulation is not accurate, this means you can't compete the same way as the console runners as it would be unfair.
Also, you are not forced to record your run with a capture card if you don't have any and don't have money to buy one, try to record it with a camera, this is still a better option than emulator. I'm in the same situation as you actually, don't have a 3ds capture and low on money, so I perfectly understand that it's a pain in the a**. :/
