Geno Skip

This amazing  skip/trick was found like a month ago by someone named Geno DeRosa https://youtu.be/rMvKLYRVnBI where at half of the level leading to the first rail, right beside the checkpoint is a plaform where you get on. You want do two spin dashes and jump to right distance of the platform. It leads to the end of the level and it saves exactly 20 seconds. Hope you like this trick. Thanks Geno DeRosa

Basically in Lost Temple, at the start you can hold jump to get out of bounds, then you could do a super dash to get insane height and land on top of the higher ceiling and that would place you right at the 2nd checkpoint, right before the 2nd room.

It saves around 5 seconds over going through the normal route.

Spindash

There’s a faster way of movement and it’s called spindash. Spindashing is way faster than just running. It saves time and it can be helpful in some tricks, sadly it kinda works on mobile really good but pc isn’t that good. So this might be helpful to mobile players such as myself

The 'Pass Through' bug.

I know some people already know this, but it isn't documented. This 'bug' can be used to passthrough a wall to a homing attackable object. The wall has to be in the radius of the homing attack capabilities. Basically homing attack ignores collision.

The starting tricks to learn for speedrunning PA2

So you want to speedrun PA2, but you're either new to speedrunning or never speedran a game like this before?
No problem.
In this guide, I'm going to inform you about some tricks people are using to speed up their gameplay.

First, we have the Spinjump. Spinjumping is using the speed of a spindash to boost your jump distance. It's a pretty simple trick where all you need to do is jump while you're in a spindash at the location you want to start flying. This trick can be hard to control so make sure you use your airdash to cancel the momentum of the spinjump to regain control. This can help you get some skips in long platforming sections and cut corners. This will be used a lot in your speedrun and you can test it in Casino Palace for the best results and easier jumps and landings.

Next, we have the spamdash. Spamdashing is a trick unique to Sonic Adventure where you can spindash again even while inside your spindash. This is one of the fastest ways to move and is going to be used a LOT in the main map to get around and in sections without many jumps or turns. All you need to do to spamdash is to press the spindash button while you are currently in a spindash. You can continue to press the spindash button repeatedly to keep your speed at maximum, thus called the spamdash.

Third, there's the double spinjump. You can see this trick in real time on the current world record for the any% speedrun in Wave Paradise. You first charge up a spindash and then let it go, and then use another spindash to spinjump. This is your tool for major skips in the run and will help you in those open levels like Wave Paradise, Twister Park, Adrenaline Highway, and Casino Palace.

Most other tricks are from routing and other shenanigans that aren't as easy to learn. So for now, stick with these tricks in your first few speedruns (submitting them isn't necessary but it's best that you do so you can get known in the speedrun community and you aren't just some random questionable world record.) and once you get these down you can learn some major skips in the speedrun. The current world record is NOT Optimized and they died in Wave Paradise. If you learn the tricks they used you could recreate their speedrun and get a nice world record.
