Cutscene Skipping Issue: Exploring Solutions for a Fair Speedrun

I would like to start running a less popular category — Krakatuk (the original game is called "Наша Маша и волшебный орех", but on speedrun.com, it’s listed as Our Masha and the Magic Nut, which I think isn’t quite an accurate translation, but that’s a topic for another discussion).

However, I’ve encountered a problem related to the game’s mechanics. In Krakatuk, cutscenes can only be skipped after completing the game once, and the game must remain open afterward. If you close the game or it crashes, you have to start over, losing the ability to skip cutscenes.

This mechanic creates a few challenges:

  1. For me, not all cutscenes are skippable at all.
  2. Attempting to skip one of the longest cutscenes causes the game to crash, forcing me to replay the game from the beginning.

What do you think would be the best approach in this situation? Would it make sense to create a separate subcategory where watching all the cutscenes is mandatory? Or perhaps allow pausing the timer during cutscenes?

It’s worth noting that the current world record holder didn’t seem to encounter these issues, so I’m particularly interested in finding a fair solution to this problem.

Thank you in advance for your advice and help! I’m eager to compete for the world record in this category! Wishing you all the best and happy speedrunning!
