Hi everyone, on December 15th I will be hosting my third annual charity stream. We're raising money for Gamers Outreach who provides hospitalized children with gaming/entertainment options in their hospital rooms to help provide some sense of normalcy/comfort.

Ive tried doing different things each year to keep it fresh and after many requests I am going to try Speed Running. I am however someone who isnt normally fast with games so I came up with an alternative to a pure skill based speed run. I love FMV games and even saw some of them already listed on here, but I noticed that quite a few that I own dont currently have runs. So what I plan to do is to run through as many as I possible can in the 12ish hour stream so they can be submitted and that technically am the fastest. (I love things being technically correct, and I have no delusions that most gamers could come after me and smoke my times) I think it would be a neat thing to do in one big push and the only thing that matters after everything is done is that we helped provide for some children in need.

That being said I have some questions that while I tried to search and figure out there was some grey area that I felt I'd be more comfortable asking directly.

#1: Is there any rules against requesting these multiple FMV games for this purpose?

#2: Is an on screen timer required? (I saw a thread saying it was up to mod discretion but as this is for charity I wanted to be 100% certain)

#3: Regardless of how #2 plays out, is there any concern with swapping stream scenes during one of the runs to thank people for donating or taking restroom breaks? I wouldnt want to accidentally nullify the legitimacy of a run or all of them due to this. I know the rules want the run submitted in its entirity but Im not sure how visual interruptions would be viewed. (or would it be required that if I switch scenes that at least a small window of the game remain visible to confirm nothing illicit occurs)

#4: I know it says that uploading streams is fine for submissions but I'd assume in this specific case that I'd need to edit each game down to its own stand alone video right?

#5: Seriously I just hope Im not stepping on anyone's toes here, I legitimately respect the heck out of the skill and dedication the speed run community has for what yall do. I sincerely wouldnt want to upset anyone, I just really want to raise money for kids while trying something new that I otherwise dont have the skill to pull off.

Thank you so much for your time, Jordan

PS. I will happily answer any and all questions to help vet this or whatever is needed to make it happen.

I saw that nobody replied to this answering anything so I just kind of wanted to answer.

#1: I do not know much about FMV games, just that they are banned.

#2: For some occasions it is needed but for others it isn't, but either way I recommend you use one.

#3: Most likely the moderators will not accept this, but there is a small chance that they may accept it.

#4: That can easily make the job of the page moderators WAY easier, and sometimes it may be mandatory, but either way it is recommended.

#5: No problem, there are a couple of people who come through to raise for charity all the time.

If you ever need help, you can message me and I will help you out.

Hi, I totally forgot to update this post (and I will update the other to match)

After thinking through the advice I couldnt in good conscience ask people to donate under the premise of speedruning if there wasn't a high likelihood of successful acceptance. Didnt want it to feel dishonest

I will instead be doing a OHKO Challenge Run of Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and then at a later date be doing a speedrun attempt at Murderous Muses and just cross our fingers on that one. Please feel free to still join and enjoy yourselves and potentially donate towards helping the kids!
