These notes are being constantly updated and should have the latest strats. These contain everything that you need to know in order to do a run, even as a beginner, without going into mechanics or why we do things.

Additional dialogue skips for PC

Hey guys,

as some of you might know, there's a fair bit of dialogue that used to be skippable in the original PS2 Version, but - for some reason - is not skippable on HD versions.

At least for PC there's a few places where "unskippable" dialogue can be made skippable again, by simply mashing another button along with your regular button for dialogue skips. (So, A + RB or X + R1 for example)

I say "at least for PC", because that's the only platform I personally tested this on and know it's working. It might also work for other HD versions.

Finally, to prevent all your controllers and fingers from getting worn out more than necessary, here's some dialogue you can additonally skip using this "trick" (and save time, yay!) in order of their occurrence:


1.) Luca, Besaid Aurochs locker room, the CS before you head out and look for Auron: this will skip the last ~10 seconds of the CS, the part where Tidus tells Wakka not to be so stiff (Kappa) -> saves ~10 seconds


2.) Zanarkand Ruins, CS with Yunalesca: during the "Braska/Jecht/Auron Flashback" you can skip a huge amount of dialogue this way -> saves up to 1.5 minutes


3.) Bevelle, second visit, in the CS with Mika: you can skip a very tiny amount of dialogue here -> saves 1-2 seconds


There you go, that's all the places I know so far where you can definitely skip additional dialogue on PC. If you find out more, feel free to message me here or spread your word in Discord so I can add it to this guide. Good luck!

Autosplitter, Load Remover, and Encounter Counter Setup

1) Open your splits in LiveSplit and right click 'Edit Splits'

2) On the Splits Editor, ensure that the Game Name is set to 'Final Fantasy X' and the 'Activate' button for the autosplitter should be available. Press the 'Activate' button.

3) Press the 'Settings' button next to the Activate button, and a new 'Component Settings' dialog will appear. Select any options and splits you require for your autosplitter. ¤¤¤¤Load Remover¤¤¤¤

1) Download the "Alternate Timing Method" LiveSplit component from the LiveSplit Components page -
 http://livesplit.org/components/. Extract the files into your LiveSplit "Components" folder (LiveSplit_1.7.4\Components).

2) In your splits, right click 'Edit Layout'.

3) In the Layout Editor, Click the Add '+' button -> Information -> Alternate Timing Method component. Double click the added component to open up the Layout Settings.

4) If you wish, change the text of the component in the Layout Settings -

5) To change the Component from Game Time (Time without Loads) to Real Time (Time with Loads), right click on your splits, Compare Against -> Game Time. This will switch your splits to Game Time, and the Component to Real Time.

1) In your splits, right click 'Edit Layout'.

2) In the Layout Editor, Click the Add '+' button -> Information -> FFX Display component. The component 'Encounter Count' will now appear in your splits.

Cutscene Remover

The Cutscene Remover tool skips through most cutscenes in the game.

This tool is designed to be used for speedruns only. Other usages (regular playthroughs) may encounter some bugs and is not properly tested.

Download the latest release here:

Run *FFXCutsceneRemover.exe* from any location, and the tool will skip cutscenes as long as it's open.

For CSR (Cutscene Remover) speedruns, please submit to the CSR platform, not PC.

Nemesis% Yojimbo Notes (For all HD versions)

My updated notes for Nemesis% (Yojimbo route, doesn't work for NA-PS2 version). 
The notes also include a link to my "Spheregridding Overview" video. The Sphere-grids are easy and you will be fine with following the notes, but some runners were scared of the idea of so much gridding, so this video might help with learning.

Preventing Crashes on PC port

Hey guys,

you will know or certainly get to know that the PC port of this game isn't too stable. In fact, it tends to crash for apparently no reason. These crashes can and will appear randomly and can occur at pretty much every single point of your run.

Nobody likes that, so I came up with a possible solution for that.

IMPORTANT: Use the following method AT YOUR OWN RISK! I can neither guarantee that it's going to work for you nor that you don't end up blowing up your computer. I am not responsible for any damage that may occur because of this method.

However, I ran this game for over 75 hours now using this method and had no crash anymore whatsoever, so I feel confident to say it's going to work.

So here's what you do:

1.) Download a program which allows you to patch your .exe to allocate more than 2GB of RAM, for example this one: http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

2.) Unzip the file and run the program

3.) Browse for your FFX.exe (might just be named FFX on your computer), if you have the Steam version of this game, you can find it by default here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY FFX&FFX-2 HD Remaster\

4.) Select the file and click "open"

5.) The program will now tell you that your file has successfully been patched

6.) Done!

Note: this patch only prevents the game from crashing randomly. It will still crash if you want the game to, like if you use the FMV glitch transfer to skip the wrong FMV, use Keyboard & Controls combined to skip FMVs and such.

Edit note: changed from "softlock" to "crash" since I mixed those two different things up. Finally.
