The purpose of this thread is to inform speedrunners and everyone that it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to attempt this game on Time Attack mode if you want to achieve the fastest time possible or even get a World Record.
This is because there are several differences between Normal Mode and Time Attack. One of the main differences is in the Mermaids. Normally, when you clear a level perfectly without dying, mermaids appears and dropped bubbles to give you points. This is bad because it will affect time loss and slower your running process, as for Time Attack mode, there are NO mermaids in which faster to clear the game for all speedrunners.
In my recommendation, you should at least practice to finish or speedrun the game on Normal Mode before you attempted the game on Time Attack Mode because there are no time limit in Normal Mode and you can try the levels as much as you want. In Time Attack, you have to restart the level to 1 and you can't pick any level you want.
why can't there be category for both..... one for Time Attack & one for Story Mode
Exactly, it's different enough, and it's more potential runs.
I think that the least we could do is make them different sub-categories.
I exactly understand what you all trying to say, however, the purpose of this speedrun is to find the fastest way possible in speed running the game. Trying on Normal Mode is much slower than Time Attack. As for different platforms, there are also different gameplays, therefore the leaderboard is separated.
Normal Mode is more of a beginner player who played Feeding Frenzy for the first time or people who wanted to practice the game casually or competitively. Hence, Normal mode is more based into HIGHSCORE. While, Time Attack Mode is for speedrunners who attempted the game to be the fastest, hence, more into TIME. (To be more accurate, it is called "Time Attack" meaning for TIME, for SPEED RUNS, for those who wanted to attempt the game and test their Best Times.)
However, you can submit your Feeding Frenzy runs Normal mode into the Any% category of PC/Mac Version. So instead of separating Normal Mode or Time Attack, it can be just one leaderboard.
In addition, in Normal Mode, you have limited lives so if you need to have to use death abuse to skip bonus rounds, if you died a lot and have last Lives, you cannot use death abuse and time loss will be applied. This is one of the major side of doing Normal Mode.
The level warping glitch is now banned as it cannot be reproduced reliably.
Based on our poll results and negotiations between moderators/runners, we have decided to ban the use of level warping glitch on the category of PC Any%. Level warping refers to the technique of spamming left clicks on
