Hey everyone!

There are now two small changes to the Levels board; the full-run board is unaffected by these changes. Before I elaborate, know that no action is required of anyone and existing runs will remain up.

Firstly, it will now be required that when submitting level runs, there must be uncut footage either preceding the attempt, or proceeding it, showing that all items are enabled. As an example, here's how this would look if you opt to show it after the attempt. This change is due to the fact that one could be strategically shrinking the item pool to hedge their own bets. Runs that are already on the board that are without this proof have been given an 'Unverifiable' tag, thus easily denoting that tampering cannot be objectively ascertained, but that the submission is still viewed in good-faith, unless it can be proven otherwise.

Secondly, difficulty will now be an available tag when submitting to the level board. Technically, difficulty would be verifiable in every new attempt now due to the first change, as it will be proven in the footage requirement. This is being done as: one, a version's default difficulty depends upon the version itself, and two, a compromise to hold off sub-categorizing difficulties, and three, a runner may have preference over the the difficulty. For example, one runner may prefer Easy as despite the vehicles being slower, the AI is hardly an obstacle, whereas they may prefer Hard as the vehicle speeds are maximized, but the AI may be more of a hindrance.

Taking effect immediately, the version category of PS2/HD has been split into the HD and Overdrive versions, as well as the GCN & Xbox versions being separated now. If there is enough platform diversity down the line in HD, it might get specific too, but for the time being, that does not feel entirely necessary. I have retroactively moved runs to the correct versions based on platforms.

As for timing, it was brought to my attention that the GCN version does not notify the player of a level's time upon completion, and upon further research, the Xbox version does not either. Although it may have been so, for the sake of clarity I am declaring that these two versions are to be timed via RTA, and as such will be re-timed in the verification process. To be transparent, the time will begin in the first frame from the loading screen, and end upon the continue prompt appearing with whatever respective button, in the bottom right corner. Runs already submitted will have no timing changes retroactively made to them at this time.

HD and Overdrive will remain timed as IGT, as the game so graciously tells you what your time is.

Clarifications have been made in the rules pop-ups that with the exception of certain full-game categories, game settings are to be left untouched from each version's default. This is what necessitated further platform separation, for those wondering, as these settings are not consistently set across some versions.

As of yesterday, I was assigned as the moderator for this game due to the prolonged absence of the previous moderator. To that moderator: please let me know if you would like to be made a moderator again; the site moderator removed both you and the other (whom appeared to have a history of low-to-no activity over long periods of time).

Also, I created a dedicated discord server for the speedrunning of this game, and I encourage anyone interested in joining to do so.

Finally, my name is Waffles and I check this site almost every day, so I will always do my best to punctually verify runs as I see them come in. If there appears to be any reasonable issue with my punctuality, you are more than welcome to shoot me a message via Discord or Twitter, both of which can be found on my profile page (along with other means of communication), but please open with the reason of your message if we have no prior correspondence, as I tend to get spam due to my online presence.
