The route is pretty straight forward :) there isn't really any major skipping (yet) so just play the story as quickly as possible - The one major note i have is when you first enter big rons shop, and hes talking about how you need to go to sams hams, you can leave early - don't do that, if you leave early theres a different dialogue line that takes a second or two longer - its a very minor timesave but i noticed it felt impactful :)
thanks, and is there any way to change the size of the game in windowed mode? I want to have splits on the side while running as well
When you set it to window mode - you should be able to change the resolution size - it resizes it to pre-set amounts but hopefully theres a happy medium for the resolution and splits on the side - not something i had to deal with because i have 2 monitors sorry
I saw you mentioned about meeting Ron and having the Timesave by not leaving early. its actually the same amount of time if not slower waiting.
The reason for this is that you leave after the dialogue has finished but if you have already left, it will automatically load the next scene.
Meeting Bish for the first time though gives you a 4s timesave if you smack all the fish in the display until the Cigs appear.
Im eventually going to make a guide on the time saves available
well ill be dammed cuz i checked a few times and it definitely felt slower on my end :( maybe its a transitional screen thing, either way fair enough !
how would one go about getting started running this? I have never participated in speed running, but i find this game epic enough to give it a go
Honestly the best way to speedrun this game is start the timer and go - the lack of massive tricks and focus on execution makes the run extremely beginner friendly with a very quick to learn route :)
Best way to learn is to watch the WR and just see how it does things and start following along.
To get started - you'l want to download Livesplit - theres a bunch of tutorials around the web and youtube on getting that installed and set up for your purpose - Since the game is pretty straight forward you don't need to worry about splits - the timer itself should be enough :)
