Though I've been moderating this board for some years now, I sadly don't have the time for it... I'll continue to mod the board but I will need some help for those periods when I'm not available.

If you're interested in helping out with run submissions, rules, etc, feel free to leave a post here or DM me and I'll have you instated as a mod.

The recent submission has turbo being used. Upon discovering that whoever was the last mod for this board didn't set up rules it's become obvious some things will need to be fixed going forward.

I'll be setting the standard rules for all runners for this board as to when to start and end time. Also, I'll be creating a new board for those who want to use turbo. Expect these changes to occur in the next few days. Any suggestions are also welcomed.

Having read the rules for the runs for this game, I discovered that the Cowabunga collection prevents the removal of a button for special attack use as the game will not allow it without assigning a button for it. This also seems to affect trying to use the special with attack and jump buttons it seems.

The Cowabunga collection version might need its own rules.

While playing TMNT Arcade with Raph, I found a strat to use against Krang. I'm probably terrible at explaining things in detail, so I highlighted it to show. I have not tested it with the other Turtles, but if it works for them like Leo and Mike, this could change things a bit. I call this trick the Rotor Axis! Feel free to laugh, it was the first thing that came to mind.

3 Weeks ago, I submitted a run for Final Fight 2 Haggar Normal any% and it has not been verified yet. I was told I had to wait 20 days/ 3 weeks before reporting in.

What should I do? Get in touch with the moderators on social media or someone on SRC?

I went ahead and added an any% Two-Player category to the Leaderboards today.

If you ever wanted to submit a Two-Player run for Two-Players it's now possible. I'm looking forward to seeing what kinds of runs this category will have.

I just noticed that my starting times didn't match according to the rules of this Board. Time is supposed to start when the character was selected, instead, it started after my character appeared at the start of the stage.

Therefore, I choose to delete those runs based on the rules of this board. At the time I started running this game, I always thought that time started when the character appeared at the start of stage 1. Unfortunately, I didn't read the rules for this board, and I'm surprised no one made mention of it.

I plan to redo the runs under the rules next time. My apologies...

I just submitted a run the other day that was rejected due to the use of a "savestate" which I didn't think I was using. This is also the first time I've submitted a run using Bizhawk.

I was told to use the "Reset" function next time. Does that mean a soft reset or a hard reset? I want to make sure the next time I do submit a Power Blade run or any games using Bizhawk I'll know what to do and not to do.

Next year, I plan to start learning to speedrun the arcade version that's on the Capcom Beat-em up Bundle. I've played all five characters, but I feel more inclined for melee fighters since there are hardly any runs with them aside from Elf and Wizard.

From what I've heard, Dwarf is bad, so it's either Fighter or Cleric. I did learn that Cleric has the fastest recovering time from guarding attacks and has probably the second-best magic. The fighter is probably better for fighting rather than magic mega crush. Any suggestions would help.

I have a runner by the name of Cybergeddon who submitted two runs for Final Fight Guy. He's using a Super Famicom and a Chinese Everdrive.

I know Everdrive is used to store multiple games to play certain systems, but I'm not sure if Everdrives are used for speedrun submissions.

Any clarification would help.

I just learned that a run I verified the other day all of the sudden got first place, which isn't.

The time was around 3-hours and it was nowhere near the current WR of 54 minutes.

I need some help with changing placements on the leaderboard as I never had to deal with this before.

Is there any difference between the U.S and JP versions?

I kind of noticed the fact that at mission 6 when you use a mega crash to bypass the first electric barrier I don't have enough IF's for the second one. For some reason, Capcom only put out the JP ROM for the Capcom Arcade Stadium and no ENG ROM.

I have succeeded in doing it in the past, but I wasn't able to do it again.

Also, is there any info on the game's weapons if they're stronger or weaker between the two? Any info would help.

Kentucky, USArotorstorm3312 years ago

I was wondering if it's possible to do weapon-only runs like assault rifle, spread shot, flamethrower, and rocket launcher-only runs?

I was thinking it would be interesting to see if you can beat the game by just using only one weapon. Spread shot and Flamethrower are available on mission 2 while rocket launcher is available on mission 3. So for those runs, you use the assault rifle until those weapons become available and stick with that weapon.

I want to do some runs with just a specific weapon, and it would interesting to see how fast it would be.

I wonder if it's possible to consider some new run categories like 100% (picking up all items, food, and weapons.) or doing like weapons only?

I think having something like that would be of use for this game aside from difficulty.

The reason I'm bringing this up is due to a conversation I had with Cypherin a few days ago about how most of my Final Fight 2 runs get rejected for GDQ's. I think we may need some interesting categories to give the leaderboards some life. Any ideas are welcomed.

Last week or so, I was trying to find the appropriate time for a countdown. I learned through some tests that the countdown is right around -13.96. I believe this might the right one as by the time you control your character the timer will be right around the 0.00 range.

Kentucky, USArotorstorm3314 years ago

When I was submitting my run, I kind of got confused about where to put the correct time. The time I submitted was 2163.83 for in-game time.

Is it suppose to be 21 minutes, 63 seconds, and 83 milliseconds? It's kind of new to me.

Kentucky, USArotorstorm3314 years ago

I don't know if this topic would be appropriate, if not my apologies in advance.

Are there any plans to create a leaderboard for the Ninja Warriors Once Again/Ninja Saviors? I plan to return to speedrunning next month, and I plan to start with Ninja first

I hope there'll be some news in regards to that.

I've noticed today after playing this version of Night Slashers that you can't change the game's difficulty. That said, I'm not sure what difficulty it's set on but I can say it is not on the Hardest difficulty.

Another thing to note is you can't change the button control scheme they've set up as far as my knowledge goes; a button is attack, b button is jump, and y button is mega crash.

Also, you cannot change the version settings or censor blood color. This version is the English/international version and blood color is red.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that Night Slashers is coming to the Switch through Johnny Turbo's arcade in some near future. I can't wait to start learning this game.

Hopefully, the switch version will be added to the leaderboard when it becomes available.

For those of you who watch my runs of this game, I tend to use Nelson over Flak. So, you may be wondering why I use Nelson. To explain this I need to go over Flak.

Flak tends to be faster but less powerful than Nelson, but he does have several things that keep him from being used.

1). Chain attack issues- When you do chain attacks with Flak, throwing one punch makes him do three punches, though the game only registers probably the first one as hittable, this also happens on the second hit of the chain. In between these first two attacks, it's possible for enemies to break your chain by attacking Flak. In fact, Flak needs angry mode more the Nelson does to make his attack more efficient.

2). Too many OTG (on the ground) grab setups- A good deal of Flak's attacks cause OTG setups; though it's good to use after a run attack, Flak's backdrop, leg sweep, and knee attacks aren't very useful especially when you want the damage of the backdrop and leg sweep, which are Flak's best attacks. The knee is just not very useful, unlike Nelson's low blow.

3). Terrible neutral grab attack- Like I said, the knee attack is useless as it'll cause a knockdown rather than stunning enemies and continue chain attacks.

4). Running slide attack can knock enemies out of bounds- While the slide useful for certain enemies and bosses if you're not careful you might knock them out of bounds and you have to wait till they reappear.

In the end, Nelson just has better options despite limited punch and run attack range.

1). The low blow can be used to stun lock enemies into a nearly endless chain attack.

2). Chain attack is consistent.

3). The run attack is the best option for OTG grab setups. Enemies that were thrown by powerbomb or hit by splash damage via frankensteiner can be OTG grabbed.

4). Frankensteiner has faster throw animation than the powerbomb and it doesn't require you to grab enemies from behind.
