Hey!

  1. Yes, as long as the saves were made during your run (not pre made saves) you can load them.
  2. Doesn't need to be a hard reset as long as the saves were made during the run. Just be sure that when you start your run it's after a hard reset always. About keeping formations or not it's only related to steproute, so if you're not doing it then it doesn't matter.
  3. Quality doesn't matter as long as things on the screen are readable.
  4. Yeah you can take a break anywhere, but the timer will still be running.

Hope it helps :D

If you don't like the background picture, you can always go to "Settings -> Disable custom themes".

I do that not because I don't like the joke, but because I think most background pictures looks worse than without it.

Yeah, AFAIK it's just random.

That's why this category sucks and 30 FPS is the future :D

That's why the 30 FPS category was created, to make it fair to everyone.

In Free FPS it's known that the game runs in different speed in different computers for unknown reasons. That category is pretty much there for legacy reasons only, I suggest that you run 30 FPS instead.

Using FPSFix to raise your FPS wouldn't be allowed in Free FPS I believe, because its goal is to make everyone run the game at the same speed, and not raise your game speed as much as you can.

It reads the game memory to know when to split, etc.

Cool, GL on your runs :D

What version of the game do you have? It should work on the latest update released last month on steam.

which platform?

the one in resources should be for psx and the values you listed as consistent are for PC

the idea is the same, but the values change because of different load times when entering the room

For PC it's much easier to make an accurate load remover, because you can read memory addresses and detect a loading screen more accurately.

When we get the PC version, I hope we can make an accurate load remover and I can even help with that (I made one for ff9).

I prefer RTA because it's more simple to handle to everyone, runners and mods.

Of course if we had no issues a load remover would be ideal. But we already have some in the demo which is 15 minutes long. I know that the load remover wasn't meant to be used with Final Fantasy VII Remake, but it'll require some changes, more testing and probably we'd find some hard screens in the game. For example, if there's a screen that is black but is not a load, then two players can go through that screen and no matter how fast they are, the timer would be paused. It's not fair to the fastest player in this situation.

Some runners already had difficulties during the demo, for example, the load remover not capturing the video from SLOBS, some bad configuration from the runner, or some problems that we are not sure what the cause is. Independently if OBS Studio or SLOBS is better (I prefer OBS Studio, but it's a subjective question), runners should be able to stream from whatever they like. We can always re-time runs later, but re-timing long runs is not fun.

Also, if after running the game with the load remover we find that there's a problem with it and the runs need to be re-timed, it'd be a huuuuuge amount of work. As the runs should be long, it'd be more easy for problems to slip through.

So yeah, RTA + split PS4 and PS4 Pro sounds good to me SeemsGood

I think for now it could be keep as Misc to keep things simple. If in the future we have a huge number of categories, maybe then moving it to a Level Leaderboard might organize things better, but for now I don't think it is needed.

Amazing Ren

I'll also leave my Deathguise skip without boosters for the record:

@Metako I've started practicing recently and I'm also using these notes.

There're some other notes or routes that you recommend?
