Hi, I have been routing this game slowly for a good 6 months and I am happy that someone else is now interested in the game as it gave me the boot I needed to finally finish my work.
However, the timer really shouldn't be set where it is and should be set when the Start button is pressed to start the game or pressed to skip the first cutscene, for the reason that this is easier to get consistent. It will also be easier to coordinate with techs in a marathon environment.
I will hopefully be making a Documentary on ESA/speedrunning in general, and it would be great to get some interviews during this year's event with runners and other attendees about what drew them to speedrunning and their experiences at ESA.

A bit late sorry, and I'm not great at writing so I will keep it short and sweet. During my tech shifts I really had no idea how the equipment worked and no one really had time to show me meaning I felt next to useless during my time there (I only figured out how the sound equipment worked after the event was already over :P). During my hosting shifts, the Yen Hosting system really got in the way due to the ability of people to Yen Host at the very last minute, therefore causing a disturbance and not allowing the scheduled host to plan accordingly. Also there were people asking to Yen Host and not turning up until half-way through the run. Furthermore one of said people didn't even like the run they asked to Yen Host and stated this fact when they turned up to host.
Yeah, that was me. Also, the broadband adaptor should work with either a hub or a switch. Unfortunately, my copy of MKDD isn't in the case so I can't bring it. :(
I have a PAL copy of Double Dash but no broadband adaptor and my GC crapped out years ago. I could at least bring the game down, I am already bringing 64 and 8 Deluxe with me anyway :P. Also have two controllers.
This seems like a terrible situation to be in and I can imagine the anxiety you are feeling right now, I can only suggest getting a hotel or a bed in a hostal, it's not ideal but in Manchester you should be able to find somewhere to sleep for less than £100 for 4 nights.

I wasn't aware of this, thanks for bring this to our attention, €54 is ridiculous. However I am assuming that is per car? If so we would still save as there will be 4 of us to share the cost. Would be worth waiting a couple of days before getting our train tickets. EDIT: Train isn't as steep as I thought, I misread the information and the person who double checked misread it too :P.
Personally I have only seen this mentioned in one thread, the thread itself wasn't vague however the title was, psychologically speaking most of the people who would be drawn to the thread would be people who are looking for lifts rather than those who can provide them. As the purpose of this thread is clearly laid out in the title, any further threads would be redundant. Furthermore you can't blame me for doing all I can to assure a smooth trip to the event in a way that isn't over the top, as I have said before as the title of this thread is so specific there is no room for error and if we don't get any luck then we know for a fact that there is no other option than to go by train.
In my opinion the original thread should have been laid out in this way to begin with.
