Do you mean like in Playlist mode instead of Story?

It's a run killer. Just gotta restart. It happened to me on a bunch of my runs before my WR. I think it was about 6-8 runs in a row that softlocked at various points, most hitting at the volcano elevator. It's definitely the most aggravating softlock in the game.

The two other softlock points are after the pirate ship obstacle course, if you're holding left on controller as you jump to land, your controls stop working. Also if you are mashing A after the final goodbye cutscene right before final boss, sometimes the game will lock up and prevent all inputs.
