I was thinking of of what else would be interesting to speedrun for Baking and I think a 3 layer cake, fully frosted would be an interesting one. Thoughts?

Obviously you'd need to make the 3 layers of cake, but then you also need to make the frosting, frost in between layers and then the entire outside. Not sure how long this would take tbh.

Cookie clicker receives a lot of spam submissions, stuff like 1 second submissions, rick rolls, 10 year olds trying to be funny. Game mods need some sort of tool to protect us from these things,

Currently there's a shadow system that was created where you can put "Spam" in the rejection notice and the Site mods can see and ban them that way, but not everyone knows about this, and it should be an actual site feature.

It's kinda sad how many people don't read a game's speedrun rules before submitting. We're at around 75% rejection rate right now because a huge influx of new players are not. I just want to mention a few things that hopefully new players will read before submitting to avoid these headaches.

1.) Please read both the category rules AND the game rules. There's a lot of important information in there.

Frequently We get runs of people trying to use auto clickers and console claiming "There's nothing in the rules against this." I assure you, there is, you just didn't read.

2.) If your run doesn't show the Wipe Save, it's getting rejected.

3.) Joke submissions will get you not only banned from our leaderboards but also SRC. Rick rolls, non-related videos, Smallants hardcore video, will all get you banned. Please don't waste our time.

4.) If you post a submission that is a World Record, the Mods can and will ask you to provide sufficient evidence if you're not already doing so. The best way to do this is to use a Hand-cam during the run and Mouseotron software to keep track of your clicks and button inputs. There are too many ways to cheat in this game and we have to do our best to weed them out.

I mod for the cookie clicker forums and I get a large number of fake submissions including rick rolls, people blatantly breaking rules to be edgy, people reposting a smallant run that was rejected over and over. I've reported some of these to src mods in the past but there's just too many to keep reporting manually. It would really be nice to have an in site function to report runs like this.

Moving forward, all holiday runs will be submitted to Category extensions. Furthermore if you guys want to do meme runs or runs that aren't on the board, so long as you do the run and record it, I'm willing to make a board for it.

Here are some things I've noticed while doing runs and you should look out for. -Scoring is slow, ideally you should aim to win 2-0. -A safety is the fastest scoring method because there is no PAT, and 1 fewer kick than a FG.

  • First Downs lose time, but are necessary to progress, try to use every down to drain as much in game time as possible and only get first downs when it's 4th down. -Turnovers are good. You don't waste any time on cutscenes. Ideally a turnover on downs is nice. -Keep an eye on the IGT in between plays. If there is less than 40 seconds left. Don't pick a play and just let the timer run out. -Short kickoffs waste less time. -Try to milk each play for every second you can. Play-Action is the most versatile play allowing you to run or throw. Try to run backwards in left down right down motion wasting as much time as you can without being tackled then throw the ball into the ground at the last second or turn it over.

To be clear is 100% just winning on an un-edited board, or do you actually have to win with the board filled out? Because I can win in a few turns without filling out the board.

By jumping onto a block midair and holding down, you are able to zip in multiple directions upon release if you do it right. We don't quite have full control over it yet, by it can have a lot of applications. Here's a clip of me zipping right into the final Dungeon.

Vaan has also applied it to water temple to save a bunch of time. There's still a lot of exploration to do, but I think we can save a lot of time with it.

All, please take notice, now that the decisions have been made about left-click vs mouse wheel, the Rules have been finalized. Please read them and be aware of them. There is some new stuff. The main thing is that left-click and fast-click types have been split into different boards. Furthermore, free-scroll mice have been banned.

Also, top times will now require audio/visual evidence as well as some sort of input tracker to be verified. (This does not mean that runs will not be accepted if they don't have them, they just wont have the verified status on the board.)

The rules have now been updated to be more understanble and clear. I will post them here as well. If you need further clarification or think I may have missed something, please ask.

-All runs for every Category must begin with a Wipe Save. Even if it's a new game already. Wipe Save resets the Golden Cookie timer.

-Timer Starts on Wipe Save and ends when you reach the Category Goal.

-Timers are not required but heavily encouraged. In game time only updates every 5 seconds and stops tracking seconds after an hour.

-No Add-ons are allowed.

-No Auto-Clickers are allowed.

-No Dev Console/Javascript editing is allowed.

-No Opensesame.

-No glitches or bugs are allowed.

-If a run is done during a Holiday even, it must be categorized under the appropriate Holiday category.

-You may change your computer date to do holiday runs or even to get out of holidays, however, you may not change your computer date mid-run. It must be done before the runs starts and cannot be changed back until after the run is finished.

-The Stats screen must be present for a majority of the run and Everything from "Cookies in Bank" to "Golden cookies" must be visible. 40 Achievements runs must display the achievement counter a bit further down. Turn on Fast Notes in the settings so make achievement pop-ups go away faster.

-Suspicious runs are up to the Mods to decide on. If a Scroll-wheel or Mouse-button run is submitted and looks like an auto-clicker the mods may ask for further proof, such as video and sound of your click method. Webcams, microphones and Mouseotron are NOT required, but will severly help in the verification process.

I've posted a bunch of new resources to help some people out. Including a bunch of different cookie clicker builds, Links to Mouseotron and XMouse and also Poyo has been working on his Cookie Splitter Program for 1 Million cookies which he has provided for us.

Furthermore, we will be rewriting the rules to be more clear and cohesive. With the HUGE influx of new runner I am being bombarded with questions, complaints, fake runs, Runs that break existing rules, runs that bend the rules and everything in between. They're going to be longer and stricter.

Also, we have added in a new Mod and will be adding in another one soonish.

Maine, USATheStrahl4 years ago

Is there any way to report users who submit blatantly fake runs (i.e. posting rick roll videos, wrong games, clearly cheating to be funny) I'm getting about 4-5 fake submissions a day on the Cookie clicker boards and there's literally nothing I can do besides reject.

we have reorganized the boards a lot. Now each category has 2 sub categories. One for Golden Cookies and one for No golden cookies. Please take note of this and submit your future runs accordingly.

There is still no good way to organize the holiday categories, so they will stay the way they are for now.

Maine, USATheStrahl4 years ago

After some careful thought I have decided to remove the #1 run from the 1 million cookies leader board. The video has since gone private, and there is no evidence that the person who claimed the run is even the original runner. Furthermore it is their only ever submission to SRC which makes it even more fishy.

Please feel free to dispute this decision as I'm open to discussion, but I think this is the call most people would want anyway.

Due to a high influx of cheated or suspicious submissions lately, I have updated the game rules to be as explicitly clear as possible. If you feel I have missed anything or need verification on something, please ask here or int he discord.

Maine, USATheStrahl4 years ago

After some discussion, I have added in a new sub genre of runs for Holiday categories. The holiday special events really trivialize non-holiday runs and thus should be separated we feel.

So this was discussed int he discord, but for those who haven't joined yet or don't want to. We have added in Click types and Webcam as options for submissions. This way we can sort by whatever we want. I think it's a good compromise for the different ways of clicking people use.

Maine, USATheStrahl4 years ago

As per request, I've created is a discord channel. It should be easier and faster to discuss things here.

I want to come to a general consensus on what forms of clicking we are going to allow before i reject or accept any more runs. there's so many different ways people are trying to get around actual clicking to a point where it's difficult to tell what's auto-clicking and what's not.

Besides actual clicking. Do we want to allow -Keyboard buttons as clicks. -Mouse-wheel clicks.

I personally don't think we should out of sheer difficulty to verify it's a legit run, but also it's kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me to not actually do your own clicking. Thoughts? Arguments? For or against? Let me know what you guys think.

So a recent 1st place claim, which I have determined to be using auto-clicker, has made me consider the need for a new rule. To help combat the use of auto-clickers I think a microphone should be used so clicks are audible. I don't really want it to have to come to this, but it's really the best way i could think of to combat this.

This is the video that makes me want it. The clicks are consistent through the entire video, with no mistakes or fatigue. Also the fact that this guy has never submitted to any cookie clicker category and is claiming first place right away.

Anyway. I'd like to hear some arguments for and against the rule change. Or other ways I can better combat auto-clickers. I'm basically doing all the verifications now.
