Hey Rhythm Tengoku fans,

In order to maintain leaderboard accuracy, a few things have been updated:

  • Emulators and/or USB loading are not allowed
  • Video proof is required for all runs
  • "Any%" and" All Perfects" sub-catergories have been added to the misc. "Blindfolded" category

Take care!

As the title says.

IL's for Practice Mode have been added as well as a community Discord server.

Happy running!

Hey folks,

After some recent work with @CedrikLPle and a demand for runs without controller footage, a "Not Intentional" sub-category has been added to ALL leaderboard categories. This will allow you to submit runs without controller footage and run the game in any way you'd like.

Please keep in mind that a video is still required to submit all runs and controller footage is still required for the "Intentional" sub-category.

....Also Perfect 10 and Island Cycling in both the Full-game and IL leaderboards have been added.... My bad on that oversight.

Have fun with those Balance Board speedruns!

Many people have been asking about the rules surrounding this leaderboard. I'll address a few things so I don't have to copy and paste each time.

Also, if you have any other questions related to the leaderboard or the game in general, feel free to ask it here!

Q: Is a video required to submit a run?

A: Yes

Q: Do I need to have controller footage to submit a run?

A: Yes for the Intentional sub-category. No for the Not Intentional sub-category.

Q: I don't have a way to film a controller cam though. Why is this needed?

A: Mainly, there is a controller calibration exploit that allows the player to use the balance board in multiple ways aside from the way instructed by the game (for example: using your hands instead of feet) potentially making the game easier. This leaderboard Intentional sub-category is strictly for the intended control method of the game with proof.

Q: I can't submit controller footage, so what do I do?

EDITED A: Due to an increased interest, a "Not Intended" sub-category has been added to the full leaderboard for people who can't submit controller footage.

Q: I don't want to show controller footage because <insert reason here>

A: Not a question, but something I've heard before. You can send me verification footage over Discord/Twitch/Twitter or you can attach another link to verification when you submit your run that can be deleted before verifying the run (don't forgot to request it though!). If you can't do this, please refer to the question above.

That's all for now!

Sept. 29, 2019 Edit: "Not Intentional" sub-category has been added!

Hey folks, just making a main thread to handle posts relating to the run categories.

The categories made for this game were intentionally streamlined to keep the game competitive with fewer categories. I've looked into making other categories such as Highway Rollers, The Balldozer, Mii Fashion Plaza, Team Building, Battle of the Minigames, Tabletop Tournament, etc. However, the only one that makes an appropriate speedrun category is Dojo Domination for regular, 1-player minigames.

Dojo Domination is a concise representation of the All Play minigames without unnecessary elements of RNG that come with TV Party games or the luck-based minigames (Hide-and-Go-Beak and Run to the Sun). Also, in theory, there could be 30+ categories that could come from TV Party games including all 5 difficulties that the game offers. Dojo Domination takes away the unnecessary RNG and excessive categories making way for one competitive category.

This does leave a few possible categories: Co-op Games, 1 vs. Rivals (from Minigame Collection) and Tabletop Games. Namely with things like Gamepad Island and Water Runner for co-op, and Tabletop Gauntlet's Time Attack mode. If you have runs put together for these potential categories (Including, but not limited to the categories I've already mentioned) with a solid set of rules, please submit to this thread as you would with a regular game submission to speedrun.com.

Thanks!

EDIT: Demolition Row has been added as a category on Feb. 19, 2018. EDIT 2: Added a blurb on why TV Party games are not included at the current time on Mar. 29, 2018. EDIT 3: 1 vs. Rivals has been added as a category on May 14, 2018. EDIT 4: TV Party, Battle of the Minigames, and GamePad Party have all been added as header categories on June 27th, 2018.
