Most optimal/comfortable patch for Running RoC and TFT classic NMG currently known: 1.29.2. (link in the resources section)

Recommended patch range: 1.26 - 1.31.1. (link in the resources section)

(TFT patch contains RoC)

We already don't train units in a lot of missions, so I would be more inclined towards a 100% category that was suggested a while back before anything else.

  1. It might be a Reforged campaign feature now but has never been a ladder feature and has never been a Classic feature (pre 1.32).
  2. 3 orbs in NE3 is not an example of a glitch, but a change in drops. Silence stops channelling spells from channelling which is what I believe is happening on Alliance 5 - intended behaviour. (you can stop blood mage from mana draining with dark ranger on ladder for example)
  3. There are many categories that exist just to differentiate between console/PC/patch/difficulty/character on different video game speedruns and most of them are unpopulated except the “best” category and that is OK. NMG exists on RoC to not force people to use infinite resource glitch to obtain the best times while you would also need a CD with 1.00 patch to run the game which would create a significant barrier of entry.
  4. Widescreen and life bars have been a welcome QoL change having no effect on balance. When you approach a ship on Human 8, a hint states: "Use your mercenaries with ranged attacks or Muradin's Storm Bolt ability to sink the nearby ship". Naturally, everyone wants to play on a version that allows ship bolting as it is faster and is the intended behaviour. Campaign unit/hero balance has remained mostly unchanged since release (heroes still use normal dmg instead of hero dmg even today) and only changes affecting the mechanics of the game apply - things like bolting buildings, shift commands etc. Most of the speedrunning has been done on 1.26/1.29 over the years as 1.26 was the most “established” version (lasted 5 years) and 1.29 added widescreen support and kept ship bolting intact.
  5. I merely made an observation that the two games are different releases with different UIs.
  6. Current Alliance 6 runs do not feature any glitches and any item stacking.
  7. https://liquipedia.net/warcraft/Patch_1.31.1 was the last Classic patch, everything past that is in a new Reforged category.
  8. Can you give specific examples of this “unfairness” apart from item stacking?

Item stacking had never been a ladder or campaign "feature" until it popped up on TFT Reforged classic recently. I believe we may need to classify it as a major glitch and put it in a separate sub-category (such classification already exists on RoC Classic to differentiate between 1.00 infinite resources glitch runs). Another thing we can do is fracture RoC/TFT classic from RoC/TFT Reforged classic as they are technically different games with different UIs. This would allow latest developments and patch changes to not influence already established strategies on RoC/TFT classic and give Reforged classic its own unique characteristic.
