It's amusing as I can think ox a mech game where I drive in a car but race on foot. (See Eureka Seven having transforming mechs.) LOL doesn't quite fit the theme though.

GBA player on GameCube is what I'll probably be using. Because you can just capture from it. Although I know the GBA rom acts up but that's later in the run I believe so it might still work for a run of it

So I've managed to come across a copy of the GBA version for pretty cheap although it's in rough shape so I'll have to see if or if not it's still works. But it makes me wonder about if or if not a category for the GBA version should exist. As since we'll I found a cart of the game.

Haven't ever gone and watched the run for Robotech invasion but:

There's a few other things like being able to clip out of bounce, through stages and climbing some of the walls because of then having collision and being able to mash jump and I believe if I recall transform to climb some of the more vertical surfaces to skip some things but never went through the entire game back then. Don't think I'll ever get back to trying to speedrun the game but figured it was worth posting these here so they don't end up getting buried further in my old twitch clips.

Anyway if anyone ever reads this again the community doesn't even know what happened so at minimum when I noticed I figured it was worth making sure something could be done about it in the future.

Don't know if there's a better way for things but id you're doing sub categories you can always put the the variables as Misc. that way they are hidden by default which should create a drop-down. There's probably a better way then this but it's what I just figured out for myself so it might work for you.

Not 100% on the second question so don't want to suggest anything at present in case I'm wrong. Though I do think there's probably an way to do it that's a bit easier to do but again unsure.

As a follow up I'm assuming there's not going to be separation between hardware unless something is found to be console exclusive.

Although I don't think I'll run the game I have to say at minimum I'm liking what I'm seeing from the game so can't wait to see more people running the game. Also if I were to suggest something the frame where the final results screen appears seems like a solid idea as it feels sorta like a hybrid spot between last hit and fade to black. Don't know if there's any time in between the two events happening but sorta has that Castlevania type spot where it's on orb grab if you get what I mean.

Again don't know if I'll run the game or not but I do plan on picking it up for the switch so figured I'd throw in my 2¢ as a fellow speedrunner.

Ah thanks for the info. Knew about the pipe clip but didn't know if it would be affected or not and since I didn't know if back to back wall jumps were even possible it wasn't worth even thinking about the pipe clip until I knew that answer.

So I'll start by saying I'm a complete idiot when it comes to knowing anything about what's even in theory possible that's already known about or been tried with the speedrun but as a speedrunner who's probably never going to even try a run for the game but does sometimes thinks of crazy ideas I have a question:

Is it possible to do back to back wall jumps in the game provided a wall is high enough?

As I said I sometimes think of dumb Ideas but am no where near knowledge on the game. I ask the question out of just having the dumb idea of if was possible to climb the wall at the start of 1-2 doing that and if so weather running along the ceiling would actually save time.

My gut instinct tells me it's stupid dumb and not worth asking about, but my curiosity as a speedrunner and as someone who lives to know things makes me want to ask about it

Sorry for bothering with asking what probably sounds like something dumb and probably well known but again I just had to open my mouth and ask after my mind thought of something dumb.

I mean "technically" it's about a tournament and it is a racing game.

Also can't remember but doesn't Mario Kart have it's own site I know at minimum 64 does. Although I'm not sure about the other games or if the times are tracked on both.

(Please note that the first part of this post is ment to be read in a light hearted way before reading the second part about Mario Kart speedrunning. So take this comment in that regard. I'm well aware of what the forum channel is for but it is worth including a small bit of possible humor here alongside the info). (Edit, added more to the please note section.)

Just remember if you choose to help mod a speedrun leaderboard you try to at least keep an eye on it. I may not run some of the games I help mod anymore but I do make myself available for those interested in running the games to message me and keep an eye on the leaderboards whenever I'm on the site.

Just try and check in on them at least once every week or something that's a bit more regular in case anyone submits anything or has a question to ask.

Don't worry we all make mistakes improve and become better people for the most part (hopefully people do and I'm speaking from experience with having to grow and learn from mistakes every day.).

Never give up if you feel like stepping away from speedrunning it's fine it happens burnout and IRL things cause a lot of us to step away here and there. Just remember to take care of yourself have fun enjoying games. I may just be someone at random replying to this but I'm someone that at least tries to hear people out. So enjoy the break, come back refreshed and see if there's any other games that you might enjoy as a run. The only thing I'd ask is that you help pass along info to those that might want to try and run the games you have run and help keep an eye in anything you might be helping with speedrunning wise. I wanted to know if it was ok if I donated the minimum amount to get them to add Metroid Dread to the list of other side tournaments since it allows for people to donate to get tournaments added to the event and since the game comes out a bit before the event I thought it might be fun and something people might like to see. (Originally did donate the minimum $20 for it and was met with a bit of a mixed thoughts on it due to how communities sometimes handle new games due to how close the event was and the nature of the event.). So I decided to ask about it, if it was ok, would the community want it or should I have them move the contribution to another tournament since it's the type of event where they also respect a speedrun communities thoughts and requests if they don't want a tournment in it

(Was namely apologizing so much because after thinking about it felt like I might have done something dumb and stupid with not thinking about it and it's the type of the that I should have probably asked about since part of my comment was about if they decided to ecen consider it as a tournament to ask about what people would want to see as far as a category went.)

Now I am probably a fool, idiot, stupid and probably dumb for even considering this but I am considering contributing the minimum amount for the game to a "other side tournment" level tournment for Speedgaming live 2021 because which is 11/5-11/13.

Look I'm 100% aware that it's probably a dumb idea and well probably be considered inconsiderate but I honestly think it could be fun to actually see a "snapshot" of a very popular game like Dread 1 month into it's life as a speedrun. Because the game isn't even out yet I thought it was worth it at minimum to ask if anyone would even consider it a smart idea.

Hence this is why I'm writing this and asking for the communities thoughts on anything that would be around this even before I do anything else. I'm far from being the best at conveying my thoughts in text here and am probably getting caught up in the hype of the game finally getting the ability to come out, but as a fan of speedrunning and the series despite not running any games in the series.

Honestly since SGLive haa money on the line and with it happening so close to the game coming out I don't know what the best thing would be to do. All I can do is I guess ask the community here would you want me to do this or would it not be a good idea and that I'm probably just being dumb and inconsiderate with even considering the idea. I'd leave everything up to the community to decide on it but as a fan, a gamer, a small peon, dreamer, and yes an idiot I wanted to ask.

(I know I'm dumb on this one so please don't yell, get mad or complain about me even asking the question despite knowing full well rhe community has a right to, just let me know on this one because I don't want to do something stupid here since I'd only be a fan.)

Please think it over and let me know what the community thinks, if the community says no I'll just probably but the minimum amount ($25) towards one of the other tournaments.
