And I'm not offended because of the joke, I just think it's stupid
I wouldn't consider ever doing a fat CJ run, I was just concerned others would get halfway through a run and not know what to do for BP
Imagine being one of those people who starts a sentence with, imagine... then follows it up with a statement implying they are better than you. Better yet imagine being mod of this train wreck of speedrun page, especially the train wreck that is the SA portion.
Yeah Derpeth, I'm not interested in what should be done in game. That's the obvious solution but it is violation of the borderline offensive rules.
You can't beat the game with fat CJ cause of the truth missions in the desert. Either get rid of this category or explain in the rules section what should be done.
I've worked quite a bit on trying to find a better highjack route, mainly using boats. No other bridge can be used and from what I've experienced no nearby boats can be used.
Ditto what S. said
If you didn't want Rye to be mod you shouldn't leave any question about your competency as a mod.
Yeah I would want them to be more GTA themed rather than gta speedrunner themed.
The only problem I have with this mod is it might lead to people wanting other mods that push the limits. Other than that I think it's great, it can't be abused, it is fixing something that is so trivial and that affects less than .1% of runs(estimating).
I agree accidental cheats are closest to game crashes in terms of effects to the run, but there is one big difference, when your game crashes you can't physically continue, if you type in an accidental cheat you can, hell its theoretically possible that nobody would notice.
It's definitely a grey area though, if they're are other workable solutions we should consider those first.
Anyone who has done all oysters, do you have any tips on dealing with cop boats or do just need to get lucky? I'm surprised how low boat health seems to be.
Not only would using memory watching not fit his definition, it is also so different from this case you should be ashamed to even use it as an analogy. I don't care about the use of this mod cause I'm a controller player, I just care about people not being intellectually honest in their arguments.
From what I can tell this mod wouldn't affect the time in which one completes the game, just the validity of the run, so any arguments such as modding out bike falls or modding out plane crashes or modding out game crashes are completely different. Those are all part of the game that either penalize your skill or just your "luck" by decreasing your best possible time, this mod would fix something that doesn't affect time, it only affects the relationship between the game and the externally defined rules of speedrunning it.
Again I'm not arguing for or against it here, I'm just pointing out you can't say something stupid and expect to get away with it.
Moral of the story, use a controller, lol
@Patrick tuxxor told me that he didn't see as many PCJs riding around during his NRG attempts so he passed that info to me, usually they are not too hard to find. I don't know if there is any logic behind it or if it's just his perception. I haven't experiment with it enough to say there is a difference one way or the other. NRG strat overall is awkward, the location you start isn't helpful for doing the news/cop heli strat so I don't think I will use it in the future anyway.
Also, to derail the thread before it even gets going, I don't think "meme" should be on the titles for each game. It looks dumb.
I like meme runs as much as the next guy, but some of these seem to be a little much. Shouldn't there be a demand for something before making it a category. I'm specifically looking at fat cj% and flying cars%, etc. If there are no ground rules there is no limit to what can be put on here.
For anyone attempting all horseshoes, first of all God help you, secondly me and tuxxor have both played around with a new strat. You can jump across the river from around Montgomery into LV using an NRG. This can potentially save a decent amount of time, but you will also have to be extra careful with bike health, it seems not riding the PCJ makes them spawn less frequently so if you lose your bike it's pretty much rip. This does nothing to help the hydra situation though so it's still a crapshoot to see if you can finish a run.
I'm not sure if this has been posted, but I have seen several people do this slowly. Before getting into the plane at the LS airport during the 0 star glitch, it will probably save at least a couple seconds to turn the plane by pushing it (very easy to do on foot). Maneuvering while in the plane on the ground is so slow and clumsy.
I'm not planning on using a controller anyway. Just already own the game and don't want to buy it again.
I also have a newbie question so I will just post it here. In the future I might speedrun this game and I'm wondering which version to use. I'm not interested in using the Japanese version, I'm not serious about getting WRs or anything. I own the disc version so that's what I'm planning on using unless the steam version has any significant advantages to it.
Will current times on the leaderboard be adjusted? I don't envy the guy that's gonna look through every run and see how much the time needs to be changed. All this is assuming the rule is changed.
