Oh yeah I had to look that up and that was actually a mistake of mine - sorry! You don‘t even have to put in your IP address, all you have to do is put in a portnumber (4-5 digits of your choice) and that‘s it. It then should be hosted on your Hamachi IP address by default - so your friends have to use that Ipv4 Adress + the portnumber to join your server.

The easiest way to do that is to use hamachi. You could also use port forwarding, but that might be a bit difficult if you‘re not used to it. So basically you (and the people you wanna play with) create a local server in hamachi and have everyone join you. You then want to press on that ‚Computer-button‘ on the top right of Net64 launcher to open up the server hosting grid. Then all you have to do is paste in your Hamachi-IP (right click on your name in Hamachi, copy Ipv4-address) and choose a port (afaik it doesn‘t really matter what the number is, just put in a 5-digit number of your choice). After hosting you want to click on the server list on the Net64 launcher and click ‚join local server‘ to join your own server. That‘s it!

That sounds great for me, speaking of your second post :) I mean the runs on the board are still miles away from needing such a timing method but it's always good to have one set rule for it.

Maybe I will come back haha, I mean in the end it's a GB game so I generally like to run those. I think I initially did a run of it (back when there was no leaderboard for it on src) because I bought it for some small money on the eshop (I never knew this game existed lol). Anyways, looking forward to your tutorial, that might get me started :P

I think counting down 6.5 seconds from when you press Start on the main menu seems reasonable and fair to me. That way we can make sure everyone is starting the timer at the exact same time. What you said about lag patterns etc: I guess there is no way we can really control it right? So it wouldnt matter anyway which timing method we‘re using if I understand that correctly. Also I‘m wondering who told you about that candle timing? It seems no one on this board does that method. Anyways, it‘s been years since I ran the game so I don‘t really care too much about it, just wanted to let you know my thoughts since this community is so small.

Super Mario 64 Splitscreen

All classic categories (120,70,16,1,0) are possible.

Right now there's only one real 16 star run since the other one ends at 70 star door (they probably didn't know you could skip it). This game has a lot of potential since there are many cool new tricks and skips that aren't possible in the original.

Here's Sichlor's and my 16 Star run:

And here's a 120 run by realblopez:

I guess we don‘t know yet. It really depends on which emulator is built in. But I don‘t think this would be a separate platform since it‘s basically an emulator built in an unofficial console if I understand that correctly.

Way better. Thanks KLM. Now I just gotta submit a run...

Thanks man, it worked! :)

I didn't know you had to add the autosplitter to your layout. I also had to use r614 of Gambatte since it somehow didn't work with r649.

GermanyCrankykong5 years ago

Seems not to work... I tried both, the v1.0 and v1.1 version. Is there anything else I have to do? I open the emulator and livesplit, global hotkeys are enables in livesplit and the autosplitter is (of course) also enabled.

I never used an autosplitter before so I'm not totally sure if there is anything else I have to take care of.

Thanks!

GermanyCrankykong5 years ago

Thanks buddy, I‘ll try this out tonight when I get home and let you know the results!

GermanyCrankykong5 years ago

Hey there. I found out that there is an autosplitter available (Livesplit told me so) made by eKo, but somehow it doesnt work for me. I'm playing on Gambatte r649 and in the readme of the autosplitter it says that it should be compatible with Gambatte.

Does it work for someone or could you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks :)

Don‘t give up, you‘ll find a way to run and record GB games even if it takes some time.

GermanyCrankykong5 years ago

If you figure out that the micro is just as accurate as the original cartridge or an emulator there is no problem of course.

Anyways, how would you record your footage? If your laptop can‘t handle an emulator + recording I‘m wondering how recording the GB Micro works for you. Are you using a capture device? If so, the easiest and cheapest way for you is to probably buy a game boy player as long as you own a gamecube.

Just hit us up on the discord if you‘re into running this game (or other wario games). Guess we can help you with every question :)

Just what Oh_DeeR said: SGB is fine as long as you convert your times.

GermanyCrankykong5 years ago

I think it‘s still online somewhere on nicovideo. I can take a look later and see if I can find it :)

GermanyCrankykong5 years ago

I don't know man :( Are you running this game?

GermanyCrankykong6 years ago

Great to see people getting into this game :)

You can skip the second half of Rice Beach 4 very easily. It‘s possible to skip the whole pouncer (the spiked block) section of this level, but that‘s a bit harder to perform.

Another easy skip is the one in PW34. You can just fly over the screen (like you did in the mentioned autoscroller train level) to skip a huge part of that level.

The easiest ‚wrap‘ is probably the one in the first autoscroller train level (PW33). It takes some practise, especially the second autoscroller section since you have to do the wrap while the blocks are invisible, but you can definitely pull it off with some practise :)

Just like breadpan said, feel free to ask us anything on the discord and we‘re happy to help you.

You can buy a NTSC-J cart on ebay for like 8-10 bucks. Even shipping is free on most of them, the only thing is that takes some time to arrive (since they're mostly shipped from Japan)

GermanyCrankykong6 years ago

I guess for VC it's about the same - the PAL version is always a lot slower since it's 50 hz instead of 60.
