Hey everyone! The level leaderboards have been updated! There are now only two main categories: "All Stars" and "Single Stars" and the characters are now subcategories. In order to do this, I had to manually transfer all of the Luigi runs (including obsolete runs) to the two main categories respectively. Additionally, all runs that used Co-Star but were marked as "No Co-Star" as well as runs that did not have a region selected were corrected. Lastly, the SRC rules for both categories have been updated to give more clarity on the submission process. If your run was transferred onto the wrong leaderboard (this is most likely the case for single star runs), or if runs that used Co-Star but are still marked as "No Co-Star", please let me know in the #help channel in the Discord server along with a screenshot of the run.
First of all, thank you to everyone who voted. This was the biggest turnout we've ever had, reaching 112 votes! Here is the final verdict: Co-Star (2P) runs will be split from No Co-Star (1P) runs for ALL categories, but Co-Star runs will appear first by default. We will not be implementing the "all tabs" subcategory, however if/when SRC releases a more suitable option, specifically one without requiring double submissions, we may look into implementing it then. For now though, this is how the leaderboards will be formatted. Thank you for your participation.
With the ongoing discussions regarding a leaderboard split between 1P and 2P in SMG1 and considering the 2P-only timesaves that have been discovered over the past year since the last vote, we have decided to hold an official vote. You must have a verified, mainboard speedrun for Super Mario Galaxy to be eligible for voting. If you have an unverified time, please link the video in the poll. This poll will close on July 29th, 2023.
About a month ago, a new Co-Star only skip was found by MarioandTrafficLightsFan in Gusty Garden 2. It starts from the question mark planet and skips all the way to the Major Burrows boss planet, saving roughly 50s. More recently, another method was found by Dendonodon that uses a Co-Star boost from the floaty fluff found by Tackleshift, that is slightly faster than the original method, though it is not RTA viable at the moment. This saves time in every mainboard category, including the mario ones. Original Video:
