SIMPLE SERIES 2000 MASTER LIST
Kumamoto, Japan

Hi Simple Series, kusoge, and obscure PS2 fans!

Over the past few months there have been more questions my way about the Simple Series, Why certain games haven't been added, which need Japanese, etc etc.

So I finally to took this past week and made a major list, with all the games, In Volume order.

I have included a brief description, and with the alternate title for the games as they are known in Europe or World Wide. If you see an issue, or want to expand on a description or even have your name tagged please leave a response below. Feel free to include a comment about the history of your game.

There are a total of 122 games on the list so I will post in blocks so its easier to edit if need be. Thank you again, and please speedrun or route some of these games!

Kumamoto, Japan

Vol1. The Table Game - https://www.speedrun.com/the_table_game A Story Game that features shogi, black jack, and several other board games like go that are popular in Japan.

Vol 2: The party Game - Extremely infuriating set of mini games, the speedrun would have to be completing all in a set amount of time without continues. Nope. Leaderboard run by @machi2244 san.

https://www.speedrun.com/the_party_game

Vol 3: The Bass Fishing - Yes Its a fishing game, and there might be bass. Sometimes you need patience even if you want to go fast. No leaderboard.

Vol 4: The Double Mahjong Puzzle - Mahjong, just on a personal note, if you know how to play mahjong please teach me. It's become a running joke that no one can teach Mahjong. And even when you buy mahjong games they don't usually teach you how to play. No leaderboard

Vol 5: The Block Kuzshi Hyper - a brick crush game. This will get run eventually. Also called Bust-a-Bloc.

Vol 6. The Snowboard - Snowboard racer 2, https://www.speedrun.com/snowboard_racer_2 moderated by @Gamesfan34260

Vol 7. The Boxing - Real Fist Fight - I've publicly spoken about how evil THE BOXING series is, so I wont touch it anymore. And I suggest you don't either.

Vol 8. The Tennis - Even on the easiest mode I was getting smash 40 love. This is not my wheelhouse, something about this game feels off.

Vol 9. The Renai Adventure - Bittersweet Fools- There is no speedrun of this but I am not sure if it would be accepted since its a visual novel. It is made by HuneX though

Vol 10. The Table Game Sekaihen. - A table board game video game with a good variety. Variations of Shogi and Go are in this. There's a story mode, which makes it more approachable but still feels like a game with a lot of luck and required know how for the boardgames. I actually want to see a speedrun of this! Also released as Ultimate Mind Games.

Vol 11: The Offroad Buggy - Seems like a very competent race game. Its also known as Dirt Track Devils. Hidden Gem?

Vol 12: The Quiz 20,000 Mon - It's a quiz game, this doesn't seem like anything but memorization and being a quiz savant.

Vol 13: The Renai Adventure - Garasu no Mori- HuneX's follow up from the previous Renai Adventure Simple 2000 release.

Vol 14: The Billiard - If you like Pool then this will probably be your jam. No Leaderboard.

Vol 15: The Rugby - Rugby is popular in Japan but I don't know anyone that plays rugby video games. Maybe you can be the first?

Vol 16: The Sniper 2 - Akuma no Juudan - A goofy sniping arcade like game.

@TripleJump san mods the page over at https://www.speedrun.com/the_sniper_2

Vol 17: The Suiri - Aratanaru 20 no Jikenbo - Detective type game, no runs but this seems like a lot of fun but requires some keen observations and guesses.

Vol 18 The Party Sugoroku - A rather drawn out sugoroku game. https://www.speedrun.com/the_party_sugoroku Also known as Twenty 2 Party. This game has more choices on the surface but is the treasures and bonus are completely random so best of luck if you challenge this. @DBcade if you want tips.

Vol. 19: The Renai Simulation ~Watashi ni Oma Cafe - 3rd entry in the series but this time its not HuneX, again no speedrun since you cant really for this game type.

Kumamoto, Japan

Vol. 20: The Dungeon RPG: Shinobu 50 level rouge like dungeon crawler, apparently its more difficult but need to try.

Vol. 21: The Bishoujo Simulation RPG ~Moonlight Tale - A tactical turn based RPG. Actually seems half decent if you like this style of game.

Vol. 22: The Tsuukin Densah Untenshi ~Densha de Go! 3 Tsuukinhen - Densha de go 3 - Very similar to the arcade version of this game, to be fair this game is actually a good game. Its a popular title so I was surprised to see this on the Simple 2000 release since the series is a semi well known staple in Japan. I will be very jealous of you if you can clear this.

Vol. 23 Project Minerva - A FPS, it seems a little janky, but its also an ultimate release? I haven't found a physical copy of this game. Known as Puzzlemaniacs.

Vol. 24: The Bowling Hyper - also known as Bowling Xciting. This is a bowling game. You get to bowl some strikes and spares, maybe you can do this fast? I haven't seen many bowling speedruns, but I am sure someone can become the king of them.

Vol. 25: The Menkyo Shutoku Simulation - Do your best to get your drivers japanese drivers license. There is a test section and driving section. This is a difficult game. Reach out to @Mammaru san if you have a question, If you can pass this game you can get your license because most of the questions are from the official government examination.

https://www.speedrun.com/tmss

Vol. 26: The Pinball x 3 - Pinball Fun, its a pinball game, and it could be fun.

Vol. 27: The Pro Yakyuu ~2003 Pennant Race - Baseball games, this is definitely a budget title, so fans beware.

Vol. 28: The Bushidou AKA Katana Action, Its a game similar to Kengo, but with heavier text sections. https://www.speedrun.com/the_bushido

Vol. 29: The Renai Board Game - I am big board game fan, but even this board game looks a little dull to me. It's also affordable to buy a physical copy of this game.

Vol. 30: The Street Basket 3 on 3 - Arcade basketball game with some really poorly animated 3D models.

Vol. 31: The Chikyuu Boueigun - Known as Monster Attack https://www.speedrun.com/monster_attack Leaderboard run by Bearudite san, One of the games that helped popularize the Earth Defense Force Series. This series is some good fun.

Vol. 32: The Sensha - also known as Tank Elite in other countries. This is a war tank battle game. You have to defeat a set number of enemies on the battlefield maps.

Vol. 33: The Jet Coaster: Yuuenchi wo Tsukurou! - known as Rollercoaster World, Build a roller coaster and test it! The speedrun looks legendary, so be sure to at least check it out over at https://www.speedrun.com/rcw

Vol. 34: The Renai Horror Adventure - Elements of visual novel and critical selection, adventure elements. This would be a good entry for speedrun.com

Vol. 35: The Helicpoter or just called Radio Helicopter. @Indigo13 san is the only runner and current champion of this flight simulation game. https://www.speedrun.com/radio_helicopter

Vol. 36: The Musume-Ikusei Simulation ~Otousan to Issho Borderline Eroge, but its a visual novel. I'm not interested in this sus.

Vol. 37: The Shooting goes by Steel Dragon EX in the EU, looks like a more than competent 3D shooter with some nice 3D models and details.

Vol. 38: The Yuujou Adventure - Another visual novel game. It seems to have a pleasing aesthetic.

Vol. 39: The Boku no Machi Zukuri: Machi-ing Maker++ - Build your town, I am not sure if there is a clear condition.

Kumamoto, Japan

Vol. 40: The Touyou Miou Ura Justsu - A variety quiz game of sorts. I would pass on this.

Vol. 41: The Volleyball - Volleyball challenge, https://www.speedrun.com/volleyball_challenge , on speedrun.com thanks to @Pizzacat san. The design seems sound here, and actually gives me super dodgeball vibes but a little more cute.

Vol. 42: The Ishu KakaTuogi: Boxing vs Kick vs Karate vs Pro Wrest vs Juujutsu vs.. - Just call this game World Fighting. A heads up some of the mashing required to break throws in this game is on an extreme level, I actually injured my hand playing this game. I moderate and welcome challengers at this page https://www.speedrun.com/world_fighting

Vol. 43: The Saiban - This is a visual novel, with story select elements. It's more along the lines of Ace Attorney.

***Vol. 44: The Hajimete no RPG - Literally translate to the first RPG its pretty strait forward.

Vol. 45: The Koi to Namida to, Tsuioku... - Its a HuneX visual novel there is no nudity. This was released individually as well.

Vol. 46: The Kanji Quiz - An actual Kanji Quiz.

Vol. 47: The Kessen Sekigahara - Also published as Shoguns Blade in Europe, its a Dynasty Warriors and Nobunaga like strategy action game. Seems a little drawn out. Some of the titles in the simple series are like this, where the games length is extended unnaturally, so it makes it boring because of the reiterated actions. If someone routed this game, it could make it enjoyable.

Vol. 48: The Taxi - A Crazy Taxi clone, if you earn 100,000 the game finally ends. Interesting thing to note is that you can kick customers out and the minimap is really good. Problem again here is length. Speedrunners to the rescue? https://www.speedrun.com/taxi_rider

Vol. 50: The Daibijin aka Demolition Girl - https://www.speedrun.com/demolition_girl Leaderboard Run by @ciccioDM, this game has been run at marathon events and is one of the funniest of the simple series. Be sure to message @diamine san if you have questions about the tech in the run.

Vol. 51: The Senkan - The Battleship - I could of sworn I had seen an RTA of this before. Either way its a lot big naval guns and blowing up ships.

Vol. 52: The Chikyuu Shinryakugun also released by Taito as Chikyuu Shinryakugun: Space Raiders. One of the more famous entries, its basically space invaders, but you control a heroine instead of a ship, and the alien ships are now creatures.

Vol. 53: The Camera Kozou - This game makes me feel uncomfortable. I also think that Paparazzi (this games EU title) are some of the worst people so I am not interested.

Vol. 54: The Taikai Kemono AKA Deep Water is a sea adventure shooting game. It seems to have a nostalgic place with many gamers. You have to find and defeat bosses to clear the game.

Vol. 55: The Catfight: Onna Neko Densetsu - Fighting Angels is a very sus fighting game, I run the leaderboard and routed it, if you dare to run it or watch the video you can do so over at https://www.speedrun.com/fighting_angels It actually has some really fun tech and tricks for a game that really shouldn't. Message me @DBcade if you have a question.

Vol. 56: The Survival Game Also known as Light war is Europe- Surprisingly drawn out because of the number of stages. This game can also be a fun or nightmarish experience depending on how the AI act, which they have little if any variation in routing. While its a clunky shooting game, I actually think it has more positive points then negative. A lot of maps you can pass by touching the enemies flag.

Vol. 57: The Pro Yakyuu 2004 - I'm just not a fan of the Pro Yakyuu games, but most of the later entries are on this site. So I am certain someone will get to this entry eventually. Europe release is titled Baseballmania

Vol. 58: The Gekai. This is also listed as Emergency room but I found now European Cover. This is a 3D Action Story game where your helping patients in a hospital. https://www.speedrun.com/the_gekai @diamine has a great playthrough showing the route

Vol. 59: The Uchuujin to Hanasou! , This is an alien (kind of?) simulation game, where you give an alien objects and pushed to help be able to communicate with it. It's more of a Tamagotchi game, Looks like a time sink and very boring but I could be wrong. This was released by Taito under the same name.

Vol. 60: The Tokusatsu Henshin Hero AKA Power Fighters, its kamen rider like beat em up, its actually well regarded in the obscure community its a bit of a chore to play.

Vol. 61: The Oneechanbara - aparently it was published Zombie Zone but every calls this series ONECHANBARA. Is this the origin of the zombie survival game mode? You can ask @MASH san who runs the game over at https://www.speedrun.com/onechan

Vol. 62: The Super Puzzle Bobble DX - I have to do a little more research on this one, its a compilation of Super Puzzle Bobble 1 and 2 but I couldn't find 1, 2's leaderboard is located here https://www.speedrun.com/sbam2

Vol. 63: Mogitate Muzugi! Onna Mamire no the Suiei Taikai known as Party Girls - https://www.speedrun.com/partygirls A party game filled with sus mini game but its actually very challenging. @RodG san runs the board.

Vol. 64: The Splatter Action Known as Splatter Master - A beat em up, and an underrated one at that. could also be considered a hidden gem on the PS2. https://www.speedrun.com/splatter_master is organized by @Galasrinie san on speedrun.com.

Vol. 65: The Kyonshi Panic Known as Zombie Attack. This game is almost a maze game, in combination with having to sometimes clear room, making it also a beat em up. It also suffers from the rinse and repeat syndrome of many of the Simple Series Titles

Vol. 66: The Party Unou Quiz - A game that features many different genres as your progress through world tour mode. It's done in the format of a story rather than a board game for the progression from stage to stage and quiz to quiz.

Vol. 67: The Suiri - A detective visual novel game. Listed as 17 plus but no nudity so it could be graphic violence.

Vol. 68: The Tousou Highway - This game is hilarious. If that intentional I don't know but it shouldn't be skipped over if your getting into the simple series. Can you escape the highway, https://www.speedrun.com/the_tousou_highway_nagoya_tokyo I run the leaderboard but if you have a question its best to ask @diamine san. This is also called Car Racing Challenge in Europe.

Vol. 69: The Board Game Collection - At first I was curious why the alternate title is European Game Collection, and so hard to find but when I finally played this I was more than pleasantly surprised to find that it had several really good board games, including Cartagena which I had been wanting to play for a while. https://www.speedrun.com/the_board_game_collection

Vol. 70: The Kanshikikan - A detective narritive game. Apparently it takes about 20 hours but has some good scenarios. @Porachan on twitch is the only person I have seen play the game.

Vol. 71: The Fantasy Renai Adventure: Kanojo no Densetsu, Shimobe no Sekiban - Released just as Kanojo no Densetsu, slightly sexual suggestive.

Vol. 72: The Ninkyou - This is a beat-em up game, the simplicity in this game works against it.

Vol. 73: The Saiyuutou Saruden - 3D action game, its the story of the Monkey King, which is also the European release title.

Vol. 74: Onnanoko Senyou: The Oujisama to Romance - its a visual novel, it might be sexual in its contents because I couldn't find any videos on it.

Vol. 75: The Tokudane - its a roulette type of board game. It feels endless, and luck heavy so its not really something I think is regarded with the word fun, but maybe if you want a challenge in endurance gaming.

Vol. 76: The Hanasou Eigo no Tabi - An English learning game that's done in the form of multiple choice questions and running around the town doing errands. https://www.speedrun.com/the_hanasou_eigo_no_tabi

Vol. 77: The Hanasou Kankokugo no Tabi - The exact same as Volume 76 but its teaching you Korean.

Vol. 78: The Uchuu Taisensou - Released as Space War Attack in the EU. Its a jet simulator where you are fighting off aliens, it seems to have decent controls.

Vol. 79: Akko ni Omakase! The Party Quiz - The most simple quiz game I have ever played.

Edited by the author 1 year ago
Kumamoto, Japan

Vol. 80: The Oneechamploo also known as Zombie Hunters - Same leaderboard as Onechanbara. https://www.speedrun.com/onechan See Vol. 61, this is the second game in the series technically. The leaderboard combines both.

Vol. 81: The Chikyuu Boueigun 2 AKA Global Defense Force (Earth Defense Force 2) - Another one of the more famous series, This game is held in high regard. This game is not on speedrun.com

Vol. 82: The Kungfu - Just called Kung Fu in the EU. A very crudely made 3D action game, where you play through different kung fu stories.

Vol. 83: The Konchuu Saishuu - A 3D adventure game where you collect bugs.

Vol. 84: The Boku ni Oma Cafe - A dating visual novel. No sexual content.

Vol. 85: The Sekai Meisaku Gekijou Quiz - Features several quiz modes including slow mod. The Hud and design are well done, so it could be the most enjoyable for gamers of the simple series quiz games.

Vol. 86: The Menkou Shutoku Simulation - Pass the written and driving portion of your tests. Be sure to message @mammaru339 if you have questions. I don't want to study again for this. https://www.speedrun.com/tmss

This is an updated version, with changes put in place from 2005 June. Yes people can actually use this game to pass since the question are from an actual textbook.

Vol. 87: The Senko, released as Dragon Sisters in the EU. This is a really cool looking 3D beat-em up. I was shocked to see this hadn't been run yet.

Vol. 88: The Mini Bijo Keisatsu AKA The Miniskirt Police. @evanevan manages the leaderboard for this 3D action shooting game over at https://www.speedrun.com/simple_series_2000_vol_88_the_miniskirt_police Features a fair amount of movement and tech, another one in the collection I am surprised doesn't have more runners.

Vol. 89: The Party Game 2 or Party Carnival as it was released in Europe. This is a follow up to the Vol.2 release of the Simple 2000 series. This time around the mini games are in 3D.

Vol. 90: The Oneechanbara 2 - not on speedrun.com, Maybe the OneChanBara community will run it. I have talked about this zombie slayer series enough.

Vol. 91: The All*Star Kakutou Matsuri AKA All Star Fighters - one of the worst fighters for the PS2, its a dream fight featuring characters from the Simple Series. https://www.speedrun.com/all-star_fighters Feel free to ask me question anytime about this game. I have a love hate relationship with it.

Vol. 92: The Noroi Game - Its graphic and scary in nature. This Horror adventure game creeps me out.

Vol. 93 The Unou Drill - Released as Become a genious in the EU. This one is a quiz that takes a lot of questions from real IQ tests, however its extremely bland in design.

Vol. 94: The Akachampion: Come On Baby The correct title is The Akachampion: Come on Baby, it was released in Korea of all countries. Please reach out to @juh0 san if you have questions about to become the baby champion. https://www.speedrun.com/come_on_baby

Vol. 95: The Zombie vs. Kyuukyuusha Known as Zombie Virus in Europe. So.. this is actually a driving game with some shooting and navigation. It gives off a cheap ghostbusters vibe.

Vol. 96: The Kaizoku ~Gaikotsu Ippai Re-tsu! - Warning, this is a very very long hack and slash game. But the pirate theme is cool. If there is one game I hope someone speedruns on this list its this one, but I hope you find some glitches too.

Vol. 97: The Koi no Engine - A racing themed visual novel. It's rated 12+, seems ok if you like the theme.

Vol. 98: The Roman Sabou - it looks like a simulation visual novel. There is something for everyone in the simple series.

Vol. 99: The Genshijin also known as Darwin in EU. Possibly hidden gem for PS2 and action adventure gamers here. https://www.speedrun.com/the_genshijin the leaderboard is run by @toraji san, and it looks like there is still a considerable amount of routing that can be done in this 3D adventure game.

Kumamoto, Japan

Vol. 100: The Otokotachi no Kijuuhouza - a turret defense game. I am not even sure this game can be speedrun because its just surviving and destroying ships trying to crash into your vessel until the clock counts down.

Vol. 101: The Oneechanpon Aka Zombie Hunters 2, the third game in the series now. I am certain this well get speedrun at some point. This might be the most prolific series within the simple series besides some of the visual stuff.

Vol. 102: The Hohei AKA Covert Command in the EU. This is a shooting game, its less clunky then the survivor but its still goofy how the AI react.

Vol. 103: The Chikyuu Boueigun Tactics - Another barely played overseas game Global/Earth Defense force tactics. This is a grid RTS game.

Vol. 104: The Robot Tsukuruuze! - A robot fighting game? You might just build them. will try.

Vol. 105: The Maid Fuku to Kikanjuu "The Maid Fuku to Kikanjuu is a game about shooting robot maids in a maid outfit." Moderated by @Yorkie san and @BonusLizard san https://www.speedrun.com/the_maid_clothes_and_machine_gun

Vol. 106: The Block Kuzushi Quest - A block breaker game, with an isometric 3D view.

Vol. 107: The Honoo no Kakutou Banchou - this fighting / training game because stupidly hard at the later stages. I actually failed to route this outside of a normal clear. It's got some decent combat and styles though, the game is just unfair at times.. https://www.speedrun.com/the_honoo_no_kakutou_banchou Message @DBcade or @diamine if you need help with the game.

Vol. 108: The Nihon Tokushubutai - If you like old school SWAT type games you will love this. Not sure why all the criminals are yankees but maybe they just had limited characters. The rooms are pretty large this time.

Vol. 109: The Taxi 2 - Exactly like the first one. See Vol.48 This game is going to be a huge time sink!

Vol. 110: The Tousou Prisoner - Its a GTA but with a lot less going on.

Vol. 111: The Itadaki Rider AKA Jacked. https://www.speedrun.com/jacked is moderated by @Kromer san. This is a pretty good looking Bike racing game, it could explained why it got one of the bigger releases in Europe.

Vol. 112: The Tousou Highway 2 - See Volume 68. However this time around the cars are much nicer. https://www.speedrun.com/the_tousou_highway_2 Message @Diamine if you want to go fast

Vol. 113: The Tairyou Jigoku - A horror 3D adventure game. It seems its inspired by Alice and several other books.

Vol. 114: The Jo'okappichi Torimonochou - Dynasty Warriors and 3D action like game. The AI seems to be a pushover so it might be possible to blast through this game.

Vol. 115: The Room Share to Iu Seikatsu - A dating game, a lot of the play is automatic mixed in with a visual novel.

Vol. 116: The Nekomura no Hitobito - A very cute cat Adventure gathering game, there seem to be some difficult mini games thrown into the mix.

Vol. 117: The Zerosen - A flight shooting game. The lock on and pathing didn't look great so personally this was a pass for me.

Vol. 118: The Ochimusha - Like a real samurai you must have patience in this Dynasty Warriors like game.

Vol. 119: The Survival Game 2 - See volume 56. Its the same gameplay and same sprites. even the same maps. Their seem to be some minor minor changes with the HUD and obviously story mode.

Vol. 120: The Saigo No Nippon Hei - an action combat game, I didn't play this one for long because the movement felt poor.

Vol. 121: The Boku No Machi Dukuri 2 - its a town building game. I couldn't find out what the end game was if there is any.

Vol. 122: The Ningyo Hime Monogatari Rated 12 and up Visual Novel. This is the last entry before Ultimate and the other Simple Series 2000 Side Entries.
