I'm assuming that's a vote for Any% SW for you Scott. Also adding a vote for me for any% SW. I agree that all exits seems redundant. However, if the category gets enough votes than it should be given a spot as a category as there are people willing to run it. I'm also giving 1 extra vote to the IL categories for the person who originally proposed the idea.

Here is the route for Any% SW. This is an early route and I'm sure someone will fix up anything that dosn't seem optimal. I like the route outside of 1 seemingly mandatory toadhouse. 4-Tower just seems super slow with mini. Also I didn't type out world 8 because it's simply your normal non shell route.

I think I like the idea of Any% SW requiring both big goomba and lakithunder to be defeated. I will make that the definition of the category: Complete the game as quickly as possible and complete the worlds 4 and 7 castles. Of course we will still warp in world 4.

The IL categories are simply starting an IL with a given powerup. Basically what we talked about in that other thread.

By secret I meant worlds 4 and 7. The route would go world 1-world 2- world 4- world 7- world 8. And I'll put down your vote for all exits.

Lately there have been many new requests for new categories. I feel to settle which categories should and should not be made official we should vote on this thread for what categories we want to have. If a category reaches enough votes then the mods will detetmine whether or not a category will be made official. This thread will be checked every day and any changes will be made to this first post. Rules over voting such as whether or not the creator of a category should be able to vote will be determined by mods.

Any% Individual Worlds Definition: Start at the starting arrow of the world you choose. Play to the castle without passing any stages. Using a cannon to finish a world is banned. (For example: World 1 any% IW would be 1-1, 1-2, 1-Tower, 1-4, 1-5, 1-Castle)

(I apologize for the long post, a lot of detail was needed to show my point.)

I was not saying we should rename the category. My point was that all exits would be way too similar to all levels.

Here is a list of all the exits and their effects:

World 1- Play through 1-2 twice for both exits, take secret exit with shell in 1-Tower. We would likely just go back after getting a shell somewhere else World 2- Play through 2-A twice for both exits, no new powerups needed. Go through 2-Castle twice, there is a mini mushroom a bit before the boss. We need a mini mushroom for the exit in 2-4 so we could take the secret exit in 2-Castle first and take the 2-4 secret the second time around. World 3- Same outside of simply taking secret in 3-2 and 3-ghosthouse World 4- Immediately play 4-1 and take both exits (We already go through 4-Ghosthouse twice in All levels) World 5- Besides the castle we already take all the secret exits. Simply complete the criteria needed. There is a mini mushroom before Petey that could be used for world 7. World 6- No secret exits World 7- 7-Ghosthouse simply needs the normal exit. Need mini for 7-4, we would need to keep mini at 7-tower which is annoying. We already take both 7-5 exits. Take the normal exit in 7-6 along with the secret. World 8- No secret exits.

So in conclusion, that may look like a lot but there would only be one notable way that the all levels route would differ at all from the all levels route. Here would be those route changes:

-Take the any% route up until world 8. We would take the cannon to world 8 to skip all Bowser Jr animations. Complete the rest of world 1 later. This would make loop 1 of 5-Ghosthouse slower though as you will have shell.

Other than that we are pretty much just playing through the majority of levels and minorly branching the path to touch a different flagpole.

When I decided to suggest All Levels I did not want All Exits because I knew that All Exits would seem repetitive. I believe the reason that 96 exit works well in Super Mario world is because all exits is pretty much required to play all levels. In New Super Mario Bros DS many of the secret exits are simply shortcuts through a world or go to a cannon.

All Levels does differ from 100% because it does skip those repetitive exits and it never goes out of its way to collect star coins. The reason I wanted the category was to allow world 4 and 6 to be shown in an RTA speedrun when star coins arn't needed. That concept had not been shown prior to the creation of all levels. Upon speculation, a better category probably would have been "Any% Secret Worlds" where we go World 1-World 2- World 4- World 7- World 8. That category, as most, would likely have its flaws too though.

All levels was made to show unique portions of the game that had not been shown before. All exits would simply be like 2% more content being shown compared to all levels.

I hope that this made sense. This is just my opinion.

All Levels is basically an "Any% 100%" run if that makes any sense. All exits is basically "Any%+2% 100%".

There really wouldn't be many levels that am extra rserve would really change. Here is what I thought of on the top of my head:

4-Castle (mini-mega or fire) (NOTE: This needs testing. The goomba's death animation takes longer when you stomp to kill him vs fire) 5-Ghosthouse: (Fire-Mini) 6-castle (x-mega) 7-2 (mini-mushroom/fireflower) 7-4 (x-mega) (secret exit) 8-2 (Shell-Mini) (NOTE: Needs testing)

Also what's the point of having reserves if we can have a "mini mario" run that just immediately reserves to fireflower?

Hm I don't know how the community would feel about the loading time modification. Loading is a major aspect of the run. I believe the average load time was somewhere around 18 or so seconds although I'm not entirely certain. A minute gained after every 4 levels would result in a ton of time save that would otherwise be unattainable. Also the fastest running version is Wii. Running the game on Wii without a memory card is optimal but has a major risk of the game crashing because of the silly loading glitch. I don't want to stop you from running the game at all though. You could still make unofficial runs or just go for personal bests. It's just really unfortunate loading is the way it is. I feel that loading has discouraged a lot of runners from running the game.

I think I'm going to make full world IL's to show off the route for this category. This will not be for leaderboard submissions but will serve as an asset for the route.

I'm also making a change in world 1. We can just wait until 1-A to get the fireflower. The only time we will need a reserve is for the world 2 boss and we will have an autoscroller before him. The idea of hoping for a fireflower in 1-Tower will still apply though. I timed it and you lose approximately 1 RTA second from not having fireballs.
