Sorry for the really late response. Either version is fine, as long as the games aren't completely different.
Alright, so I re-verified your run. It was just brought up to my attention that your run didn't include inputs. It was discussed on the last forum that since it technically is a different game, we should make a category. But now that I think about it, it doesn't really make sense. This isn't even that serious of a game. I'm sorry for taking a while to respond, I didn't get notified of the forum and was busy doing other things. If you have any other concerns let me know @Guigui413
I fixed the R6 issue, I will update the runs later. Thank you.
Unfortunately, the original game was taken down. However, I have made my own version of the game with a few benefits.
- Free Private Servers
- Checkpoints don't save so you don't have to leave after every run

If you want a version of the game that includes checkpoints that save your position, let me know.
For now on, THIS IS THE ONLY VERSION that can be used for speedruns. If the original game gets fixed, then this version will still be allowed.
If you have concerns, please leave a comment.
It's fine, sorry for the wait I have been busy recently.
If you do runs of these categories, I will add them to the leaderboard. Just submit the runs you want me to add here :)
Since that does technically count as gear, it would go into the modified%
I was able to see all of his runs, so they are legit. But getting them taken down would be the best way go since they are all gone.
I don't know what it does, but if it gives you an advantage then I would just put it in the modified any% board. Sorry for the long time to respond, didn't get this notification.
Hey Gatsby Speedrunners! The Salsa Shack is hosting a KO tournament for this game on April 9th. Check out the trailer here! -

I'm ten years late, but if you do a run of it and there are others that are interested, we can add it to the leaderboards.
Sounds good, thank you for the responses!
I know the title isn't the best :P
But as you know, before a run starts, you have to watch a title cutscene before each run, that (as far as we know) doesn't effect the final time at all. After resetting, this cutscene is around ~10 seconds, so I was wondering if you could just make a savestate after that cutscene that is still on the title screen, and just do runs from there?
So instead of having to reset, watch the cutscene, then hit start, all you would have to do instead is just load the savestate (which skips the cutscene), and then start the game.
The Super Mario Bros. All Stars (For The Original SMB) speedruns do something similar to this, where they load a savestate that is in the menu of the game so they don't have to watch the cutscene after each attempt.
I think this would just make doing runs a bit more tolerable, but it's up to us (but most importantly the mods) to decide if this is okay or not.
Dang, at least this could be sorted out in good terms. I think that locking this forum for now and adding it to the rules is the best thing to do right now.
I was actually comparing my run to Muten's run earlier, transition speed doesn't seem to be different, so I am going to assume that it is a lag issue.
In my world record, I knew that my stage 1 was a bit slow, but that wasn't a big deal to me
And then, I watched Muten's run and realized "OH CRAP MY STAGE 1 SUCKED"
Heck, I looked at Beard's run, and even with an extra boomerang throw, his split is around .5 seconds faster than mine (adjusted to when I split by the way)
So does anyone have tips on how to improve it? I tried doing stage 1 IL runs at I seemingly can't get that much faster.
I would like to point out that I don't believe this is an emulator issue, and Beard's and Muten's runs are legitimate, so I was wondering how to improve it.
