So, uh, this was something I meant to post after it was made official and forgot to do in a timely manner. Sorry for that. Anyways, this is something that's already been in effect for just over a week, but in the event it hasn't been seen: The topic came back up and we've decided to allow for USB keyboards to be used in runs. This applies to all categories, though certain ones (like the Colosseum) have no need for them.
You might be asking, why allow this but not amiibo? It's pretty much general availability and ease of acquisition. USB keyboards tend to be cheap, many of them work on the Switch, they're not usually limited, and if it came down it (if a bit awkward to do), one can use the keyboard that came with their computer if it isn't somehow a PS/2 one or some other vintage plug. Simply put, many more people are likely to have access or be able to get a USB keyboard compared to an amiibo given their more limited nature- third-party NFC tags aside, which some may not want to deal with. Also, the time saved from using a keyboard to enter Present Codes depends on the player's typing speed and isn't exactly a big impact given the length of runs that'd use the codes.
Anyways, that concludes this update. As always, best of luck in your future runs!
