What are the rules for this game for speed running?

I feel what should also be added (Or kept) is each campaign using Real Time. That's kinda what I've been doing this entire time, and making a change to do just single levels with IGT would confuse me, not to mention that IGT is not added up in the end of the campaigns. Just a thought, but i don't feel i'll like speed running it in any other way. On another note, I looked at a couple of your single segments, and the only thing i have to say is that i can't compete with that, and I don't have the time to even try to. In other words, i will probably not be playing it on Hard difficulty, and will stick to playing easy.

Note: I'll be editing this as i find more things to say, so yeah.

Yeah all full runs will be calculated in real time.

Cornford, if you could go ahead and add the list a made a couple of posts ago, Michael can fill that out with his times.

+1.

Also I just got a new record that I would like to post

Sweet!

I got part of the way updating things. So you guys can take over or wait for me to finish it when I get the time :D

Spoilers: You're all now mods for this game.

New South Wales, Australia

Leaderboard updates:

Single Segment Campaigns:

  • All Campaign category added
  • Multiplayer choices for campaign runs
  • Rules updated to match format style of 'General' leaderboard
  • Rules show up by default on the leaderboards

Individual Levels:

  • All 9 campaign missions added for each respective empire/alliance.
  • Multiplayer choices for individual levels
  • In-Game time set to default showing

To do:

  • Add rules to Individual Levels leaderboard (GBHmichael if you could please help out with this, please refer to the 'Campaign rules' format and style)
  • Separate multiplayer games into separate leaderboards (efficiently without creating double of every board hopefully.)
  • Remove test runs from the leaderboard after everyone has the chance to see them.
  • Add resources. (Splits, missions saves, etc)

(Test run times have been posted by me which are available to view) http://www.speedrun.com/red_alert_3#Soviet_Campaign http://www.speedrun.com/red_alert_3/individual_levels http://www.speedrun.com/red_alert_3/Allies_1_Ride_of_the_Red_Menace#Medium

Is there anything else that I have left out?

If possible, we should pin a set of rules at the top of the forum or on the main leaderboard screen so people don't have to search through this.

Some thoughts:

Full campaign any% single player:

  1. Timer starts on 1st mission start and ends on the final victorious screen.
  2. All glitches are allowed.
  3. Single segment.
  4. Must play with the AI as your co-commander

IL any% single player:

  1. Real time and in-game time are the same, taken from the end game summary.
  2. All glitches allowed.
  3. Single segment.
  4. Must play with the AI as your co-commander

If you feel like there is anything else to add, please feel free to input.

"Add rules to Individual Levels leaderboard " From what I can think of, these should not vary.

One thing I have noticed, the hard test time that was uploaded shows up on the main speedrun.com page but none of my IL times show up there. Is there any reason why?

Btw, I do have a couple more IL times but my upload speed is shocking so I will have to plan time to upload them.

Yeah I noticed that too about the IL times but I guess they don't show up on the main page at the moment? I'll make a comment about this in the site development thread later this evening. Things are still being built slowly on this site so maybe it is by choice but we don't know haha

EDIT: Actually I'm fairly certain this has to do with the date of the run submitted, if you submitted as today's date they would be there.

So we can fill in some of the times on the IL leaderboards, I think everyone should post all of their best IL times that they have got in full campaign speedruns. They will be exactly the same as the IL category so their times will count.

Post the full video with a time in the description of when the level starts.

@crazycharlieh and Cipher3333 etc

I noticed that there has been some changes recently and I have a few questions.

  1. Timing changes I saw that the 'Real time without loads' has been filled in on some of the old runs but not all of them. Is this a work in progress, so the others will be updated as well?

  2. Co-op speedruns Some co-op speedruns have been included for some IL sections, e.g. https://www.speedrun.com/run/2ywno4py . As far as I was aware (and as I mentioned in some posts above) it was single player only. Co-op and single player times are not comparable as they work completely differently. What are we going to do about this?

I was about to finish the job of adding and updating the runs but crazycharlieh didn't want me to finish, so I stopped. I was applying the same timing system across the series which he didn't want for this game.

As for Co-op missions, the layout the site makes it difficult for a good solution. For individual missions, either co-op is in separate categories (columns) or variables (buttons). The former would cause the level leaderboards to need a horizontal bar from limited space, while the latter would use the better time of the two (single vs co-op) on the front of the main leaderboard. Removing the Normal difficulty might make enough room without the need of a bar. Full-campaign runs can use variables since the buttons work well for that.

I agree with Charlie about the times not being changed. If we aren't going to change all of them though, we should at least change the old ones back. If you need some help I can do the IL ones (It'll just be a case of copying the 'In-game time' into the 'Real time without loads' time).

As for co-op speedruns, I'm not sure if we really need them here. The runs which have been added were all 6 years ago by players who probably don't know about the website. It doesn't look like anyone has done any (or is particularly interested in) co-op speedruns for a while, so I don't think it's worth adding them.

But if we decide to put co-op times in, I think they would need to be separate categories; there isn't really enough room for a tidy way of having them alongside each difficulty in the IL sections, especially here 'http://www.speedrun.com/cncra3/individual_levels'.

I'll be cleaning them up soon. If you're not careful information can get nuked with settings changes.

Edit: Done
