[DE] Anleitung zur Einrichtung von Bizhawk für Metroid: Zero Mission Speedruns

Diese Anleitung ist für sowohl Metroid: Zero Mission als auch Metroid Fusion gültig.
Für letzteres Spiel wird empfohlen sich nochmal explizit an die [Community von Metroid Fusion](https://www.speedrun.com/fusion) zu wenden.

Diese deutschsprachige Anleitung basiert auf [dieser englischen Version](https://www.speedrun.com/mzm/thread/syvkl).

##**Wenn du deinen Run mit der Echtzeit (RTA) einreichen willst, dann gelten dafür bestimmte Regeln:**

Bizhawk ist der **einzige Emulator**, der aktuell erlaubt ist für Speedruns von Metroid: Zero Mission.
Die offizielle Seite von Bizhawk ist [hier](http://tasvideos.org/BizHawk/ReleaseHistory.html) zu finden.
Es muss Bizhawk mit dem mGBA core und einer **erlaubten** Firmware verwendet werden.
Wenn diese Regeln nicht eingehalten werden, kann leider nur die Ingame-Spielzeit (IGT) eingereicht werden, wobei IGT nur eingereicht werden kann, wenn du in deinem Run **nicht gestorben** bist.
Außerdem muss der gesamte Run aufgenommen werden und entweder am Anfang oder am Ende des Runs müssen die Bizhawk-Einstellungen gezeigt werden und es müssen folgende Regeln eingehalten werden:

1. Der verwendete mGBA core muss gezeigt werden. 
Entweder in der Statusleiste oder in Einstellungen kann man dies zeigen: [Beispiel 1](https://gyazo.com/e6f68abb307f91e45eede86d037558ee), [Beispiel 2](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/116675190984933384/330727637586542605/Core.PNG)
**Schritt 1 kann übersprungen werden, wenn du Bizhawk in der Version 2.5 oder neuer verwendest.**
2. Die richtige Firmware zeigen unter Config ➞ Firmware. [Beispiel](https://gyazo.com/879ff9df01f5cba4110d02dbf3866bea)
Bitte achte darauf, dass der Hash deiner verwendeten Firmware [hiermit](https://thumb.gyazo.com/thumb/1200/_4195725197db1c6328d6473bc4fd47a4-png.jpg) übereinstimmt.
3. Die verwendete Version von Bizhawk muss gezeigt werden.
Die allermeisten Versionen dürfen verwendet werden, aber die Versionen **2.3.3 und 2.4 sind verboten**.
Es wird empfohlen die neuste Version zu verwenden, die unter Help ➞ About gefunden werden kann.
4. Zusätzlich zu den anderen Regeln muss vor dem Run ein sichtbarer Soft oder Hard Reset in deinem Video zu sehen sein.

Ein Beispiel, wie diese angewendeten Regeln aussehen, kann in [diesem Run](https://www.speedrun.com/mzm/run/z5ojpnjy) gesehen werden.
Am Anfang der Soft oder Hard Reset und am Ende, wenn die IGT angezeigt wird, werden die Einstellungen gezeigt.

Neben diesen Regeln gilt natürlich auch, dass emulatorspezifische Funktionen, wie Save States, das Pausieren des Emulators und das Spiel in höherer Geschwindigkeit laufen zu lassen, verboten sind.
Dies gilt für alle Runs, die mit RTA oder IGT eingereicht werden.
Die Regeln werden strikt von den Moderatoren befolgt und wenn diese Regeln nicht eingehalten werden, wird dein Run sehr wahrscheinlich abgelehnt.

[ES] Guía para configurar BizHawk emulator para speedrunnear Metroid: Zero Mission

Si quieres aplicar con RTA en Emulador, estos son los requisitos:

Bizhawk con el núcleo de mGBA y firmware correcto será necesario. También es necesario mostrar la versión de Bizhawk. Si cualquier otro emulador es usado, no podrás aplicar RTA, solo In-game Time (IGT). Obviamente, video de la run es requerido. Al principio o al final de la run (recomiendo al final, cuando el juego ha mostrado ya el temporizador in-game), todo esto debe ser mostrado:

1) Núcleo mGBA seleccionado (en la barra de estado o en la configuración, las dos valen)
2) Firmware correcto seleccionado (asegúrate de que es el mismo que el que voy a mostrar en el vídeo abajo)
3) Que versión de BizHawk es usada. Casi todas las versiones van bien, pero 2.4 y 2.3.3 están baneadas. Usa la más nueva a ser posible. (Puede ser encontrado en Help > About)
4) A parte de todo lo de arriba, un soft o hard reset tiene que ser visible al comienzo de cada run para evitar uso de savestates o parecidos que puedan cambiar el RNG de alguna manera.

Esto es bastante obvio pero utilizar savestates, pausar el emulador o aumentar la velocidad del mismo está PROHIBIDO. 

Si alguno de esos requisitos no han sido cumplidos, la run será denegada. Queremos ser muy estrictos con tiempos RTA de emulador.

Ce guide est valable à la fois pour Metroid Fusion et pour Metroid: Zero Mission.

Si vous souhaitez soumettre un temps RTA réalisé sur émulateur, voici les conditions à suivre :

Bizhawk est le seul émulateur autorisé pour le RTA. Si tout autre émulateur est utilisé, vous ne pouvez soumettre que l'IGT (In Game Time). La bonne firmware ainsi que le core mGBA doivent être utilisés. Une vidéo de la run entière doit être fournie. Avant que la run ne commence ou après que l'IGT final d'après les crédits soit affiché, ces paramètres doivent êtres montrés :

1) Le core mGBA doit être sélectionné (Pas besoin d'être montré si vous jouez sur Bizhawk version 2.5 ou plus)
2) La version de Bizhawk
3) La bonne firmware doit être sélectionnée (La série de lettres et de chiffres doit être visible)
4) En plus des éléments évoqués précédemment, un Soft Reset (Appuyer sur A + B + Start + Select) ou un Hard Reset (faisable depuis l'onglet "Emulation" de Bizhawk) doit être visible au début de la run

Il est interdit d'utiliser les fonctions de l'émulateur (Sauvegarder / charger une save state, mettre en pause, accélérer, etc.) durant la run, cela inclus les crédits, même si le timer ne tourne plus. Cela vaut même si vous ne soumettez pas le RTA.

Si l'une des conditions évoquées n'est pas respectée, la run sera rejetée.

Video tutorial, covers almost every "viable" RTA route. Viable refers to a route that is theoretically capable of being withing a few seconds of the optimal route. For this reason we do not cover things like HBJ route in Kraid, Late Imago in Ridley, or non glass tube route as all of those lose significant amounts of time compared to the route variations we cover here. Non-glass tube cleanup is mentioned only as a backup for failing glass tube. Video description contains timestamps for most major area transitions.

Drop mechanics

Practical stuff:

The game does a couple of calculations based on the enemy's position, its index in RAM and multiple RNG values to get a number between 1 and 1024 (the calculation is explained in the "Technical Mumbo Jumbo" part if you're actually interested). Controlling this number in any meaningful way is not reasonable in real time, for all practical reasons it is truly random.

This number is then tested against the drop rates in: http://www.speedrun.com/mzm/guide/z48ik
If it's bigger than 1024-(rate for power bombs) you get a power bomb drop, otherwise if it's bigger than 1024-(pb rate)-(super rate) you get a super and so on, continuing with Missiles, Large health and Small health. After your drop is decided however, it can transform into something else based on your current resources.

For health(big and small) it does the following checks:

If health is not full: 				drop normally
otherwise, if missiles are not full: 	drop a missile
if both health and missiles are full:	drop normally anyway

For everything else, it does the following:

Is the resources in question not full:			drop normally
otherwise, if health is not full:					drop a large health
otherwise, as long as you have the item unlocked:	drop normally anyway
or finally, failing everything else:				drop a small health


So when looking at the drop tables, you can (in cases that matter) add both health drop rates to missile drop rate if you're full on health. And if anything else is maxed out, add it to large health drop rate.



Technical Mumbo Jumbo:

The game uses two RAM values for the RNG calculation: 0x3000C77 and 0x3000002. I will refer to them as "frame1" and "frame2" respectively in the formula. These change every frame but can also change by invoking random elements (like checking for drops). 

The formula starts as follows (% denotes a modulo operation):

((frame1 + 1) % 256 + ((frame2 + 1)/16) + (enemy's index in the list of enemies) + (enemy x position) + (enemy y position)) % 32

the result will then be used as an index to fetch a number from this list, I'll refer to the fetched number as "listRNG":
{13, 2, 6, 8, 7, 9, 14, 10, 2, 4, 14, 4, 12, 15, 13, 12, 11, 1, 3, 15, 0, 6, 7, 8, 11, 5, 0, 3, 5, 1, 9, 10}

the calculation continues:

((frame1 + 1) % 256 + (frame2 + 1) + listRNG¤256) % 1024

and the resulting number is compared against the drop rates.

Note that metroids, in order to give two drops, are technically two enemies, with the second one dying at the same time and in the same location as the first one. So the only thing different between the two drops is the enemy index.

If you look at any of the top runs on the leaderboard, you might notice that they break the speed block during the final escape by running past it and stopping just before the wall. This is a visual cue for lining up correctly to make this work.

The alternative (pressing down just as you hit the leftmost speed block) is a 2 frame window, for comparison.

Glass tube explanation for 100% speedruns

The fastest real time route in Zero Mission 100% uses a specific trick to break the glass tube in the pirate ship and get a speed boost going at the same time to collect the e-tank below optimally. This video shows off the trick:

Video shows a pretty safe and lenient way of doing the glass tube strat, as well as a faster, but riskier and more execution heavy strat. 

This is by no means a new trick or anything, but I figured it would be nice to have a reference since it is a fairly essential part of the most used Metroid: Zero Mission 100% route. 

Regardless of what strat you use, the important thing is that you place a power bomb right after transitioning, then stand in the door. You have to run at a fairly specific time to make sure the tube breaks right after you store your speed boost: experiment with what works well for you. The most common cue is to start running when the screen stops shaking. An alternative would be to count to three when the power bomb reaches its furthest point, then run. 

For the safe strat, the ledge grab is a good way of making sure you do not fall down after doing the diagonal shinespark. You can also just space jump up right away, but if you are worried about falling down, definitely go for the ledge grab.

For the fast strat, you do not necessarily need to hit both blocks with the space boost, but it's obviously faster. You can jump a fair bit earlier and only hit one block and still save time over the safe strat.

Using a Metronome for Kraid quick kill, Kraid 100%, and IBJ

Apologies about the lag my PC has when too much happens at once...
this is a guide to using frame data to create a metronome to help with timing for super and regular missile spam as well as bomb jumping. 

For Kraid in 100% [I credit Rossu123 for telling me this] the timing is 3/4. Hold R and press A, B, B, lather, rinse, repeat. It works even better when timed with the metronome. 

For any% Kraid you run forward and press B to the timing of Super missiles. 

For bomb jumping you start with B, pause,[ B, B, pause, B, B, pause, B, B, pause, lather, rinse, repeat] to the timing. 


Metronome practice is useful for anything that has a consistent timing like playing the piano, guitar, spamming super missiles or missiles, bomb jumping, just frame attacks in soul calibur, Magneto ROM combos in MvC2, Ironman's infinite in MvC2, etc.. 

The method used with music works the same with video games.
Step 1. Play with the metronome until it feel comfortable playing at that timing
Step 2. Play without the metronome and notice how much more consistently your timing is
Step 3. Profit

Zebetite skip

Just like in Super Metroid, it's possible to skip zebetites in Zero Mission. It's only really humanly possible for the 1st zebetite, however, and even then it's a 1 frame trick that requires some tricky setup. Video by ZX497 shows it in action:

Skipping the 1st one prevents the 3rd one from spawning as well.

The skip is performed by freezing a rinka close to the floor (make sure you're standing on it), placing a bomb in midair (make sure it's low enough to propel you upwards, but not low enough that it will destroy the frozen rinka), and then unmorphing the same frame the bomb is about to launch you upwards (so roughly when it explodes). This will make you enter a state where you kind of hover above the frozen enemy in midair. Simply hold left to bypass the rinka in this state.

It's potentially useful for any% if you get the trick right away, since it does save 14 missiles, though it takes a while to setup and it's potentially superfluous if you gain enough ammo in the previous Metroid rooms. (EDIT: Since this guide was written, missile route has changed slightly to accomodate this trick, and now it's used in most of higher ranked any% runs.)

The main application is for 9% normal and 9%/10% hard, where zebetites take a while to get through.
