Timing

As it stands, 4 out of the 6 records on this board use the timing method of ending the run when selecting the hand portion of the game, 2 of them use the timing method of endings he run when standing on the button IN the hand portion of the game.

This obviously gives the hand selection method runners a larger advantage, so I’d like to discuss what we should do going forward.

Should we switch to the button format and invalidate all runs that don’t abide by it, or keep the rules as selecting the hand portion and re-timing the ones that do not.

I think let's keep the hand selection, I feel like it would be a pain to have to invalidate more than half of the runs, and those who did it the other way can learn the correct timing so retiming won't be an issue for too long

I think we should change the timing to pressing the button while also keeping all the other runs valid, I just think that timing method makes more sense since with the other method you still haven’t technically finished the game yet as you can still move the character, it’s like beating bowser in Mario 64 and not collecting the star or that’s how I see it at least lol

That’s a good compromise

Rules have been changed to accommodate this change.

I like that change personally as well, noticed it in the new speedruns being on the menu, instead of in the game, but also, didnt want to throw off all those runs. I think making it the button at the end, also is a great way to just know "exactly" when its pressed.... good call!
