The sum of each time should be the total time.

Currently the star animations count in the total time and you need a certain version of bike race to be able to skip it.

A run I had before I knew about this was beaten by 7 seconds by a run that skipped the animations, while the sum of those times was 5 seconds slower than the sum of mine. This means that the individual times don't matter at all anymore, the only thing that matters is how fast you can press next level.

Even if I were to use that specific version of bike race, how fast I can click would still have a major influence on how good the run is, and I don't think being able to click fast should be a skill that is required to get good bike race speedruns.

This would only work if all runs were driven in the first attempt, so it should probably only apply in the 8 level categories.

I completely agree

We had this discussion before and it would be nice, the only issue is what to do with deaths? How does that add onto your time?

Netherlands

Counting the time on that level from the first frame on which that level is visible would be the best I think.

Most runs in a 8 level category will have all runs driven first try anyway I think.

Ah. I thought best times of individual levels.

I like this idea, who wants to be a mod with me and retime everything?

I can help, but is the difference between 2 and 4 digits not a problem?

EDIT: wait thats not what you meant, how does someone count the time on the exact frame?

If it's a youtube video it can be done with the , and . keys, which move the video forwards and backwards by 1 frame. If it's another type of video I don't know.

Oh cool I didn't know that

Hi! It's been a year since this was last discussed, but since I think it is a particularly relevant matter, I would like to see it go somewhere.

I find it completely illogical, unfair and questionable to need to use a cracked version of the game instead of the version available on the official stores just to be able to compete in equal conditions.

By computing the runs' completion time with the only part that's invariant accross devices and versions (and pretty much the only part that interests both runners and viewers!), which is the in-level time, the problem should become solved.

I would gladly collaborate with moderators to retime all submitted runs, but I guess I'm not trustworthy since this is my first appearance on the community lol. Still, I ask the mods to officially decide whether or not the methodology change will take place, and actually start working on the task little by little.

Thank you!! :)

I agree, however mods are very inactive and don’t want to spend time retiming everything. If you and I were mods I would help you with retiming everything. There’s a tool online called Somewes Frame Count that lets you count exactly how many frames are in a video, so that would be pretty useful.

@Laquin I do agree with this and would be happy to add you as a verifier along with @LegoMyEggo_77 , Do realize what you are trying to uphold how ever you would need to retime runs of which create a total time of about 2D 5H 59M 32S, Obviously I would leave most of this up to you two as I also have 43 other games I moderate. The issue I also have with this is you cant really retime only half, you must retime EVERY run, A Promise I can almost guarantee many people cant up hold. as you may or may not know the original mods kind of left me to clean up their mess and I don't have time to retime every run. As for the mods being inactive I have several things such as schooling and as I've stated Moderating 43 other games though I am still active everyday on SRC (mods only do this stuff in their free time),as for the other mods to my knowledge VyPr is Still active and is living life and DST_Dog (My cousin) Is Just trying to be a kid and whatnot before he has to graduate highschool. As for Kais I haven't talked to him recently but does still seem active. As ive stated I will add you two as verifiers if that is really what you want (this includes category Ex btw) But what you are asking will likely take months to achieve and once you start you cannot stop as it would completely throw off the leaderboards. Please DM me through SRC or Discord (the.real.ultra.64) with any questions or concerns

I don't think retiming every single submission is worthwhile, nor realistic to expect of people to do in their free time. You could consider full purging the categories and starting fresh, but that wouldn't be very fair to those that have already put in a lot of time in the old format and are losing their accomplishments.

Is there a compromise to be made about only timing the top 10 submissions, or seeing what runs are genuinely a top 10 contender if they were to be retimed? I do agree that the suggested format of only the in game time counting is to be preferred.

Hello @Ultra64, thank you for your response!

First of all i also want to apologise if my comment came across as somewhat selfish. Of course I understand this is completely voluntary work, and private life should be prioritised for all mods.

It is good to know that the total run time is 2D 5H 59M 32S —that's undeniably a really long time! As i know programming, i could make some kind of app which takes timestamps as input and outputs the run time, but the timestamps would still need to be logged manually. If the retiming were to be done, we would have to automate as much of the process as possible.

As for what @Wout_B said, I would vote against starting fresh, i really wouldn't like anybody to disappear from the leaderboard because of this, as this would make it even more unfair for those who are not active anymore. I'm not sure about timing just the top 10 submissions. Have any of you seen something like this done in other communities?

I will send @LegoMyEggo_77 a message and we'll see if we decide on something.

Thank you everybody for your insights!! :)

Ultra Bike and other runs going forward…

Audio is a key part in a speedrun and all runs going forward will be checked for audio. If audio is not supplied then specified run will be treated with more suspicion than normal and may be downright rejected depending on the skill level and placement of said run,if you cannot provide audio properl
