hi there! ^____^ im a new runner and am currently quite unskilled at the game. (my first run was around 40 minutes, didnt submit to here because bad recording setup with no sound but that will change soon) i've been having a rough time specifically in SSL, its hard to get the setup off the fly guy into the bird and i end up doing that section incredibly slowly, sometimes unnecessarily losing lives, and honestly not having too much fun with it. i've stuck with it because i figure as my movement and general game skills get better it'll be less of a hassle + its good to practice this star from the start. but i was wondering if the first floor slide star (or something else?) is a viable alternative, or if i should continue to use this route to not stunt my growth. There is another slow way to getting the talon star without bouncing off the fly guy. If you jump over the hill like you do for getting the pyramid star, you can go to the pillar directly to the left. Eventually, he will fly over there and you can snag the star from him.

for talon star you can use the pyramid star strat and just use Silly kicks to stay up near the tip of the pyramid to stay up there till the bird comes and you fly right into you

I figure that's the best plan even if i'm annoyed at times. better to get good than take the easy way out

i was in the same situation as you a couple weeks. didn’t like talon star at all and tried to replace it but after sticking with it I have almost 100% consistency, it’s annoying but i promise you’ll nail it if you stick with it

gorillax you're right in thinking that i just used the one u proposed as a backup whenever the intented strat didnt work (every time)

If ur on emu savestates are a great help but if you are on console a gameshark or even more so, an everdrive cartridge, will help you 1000% with practicing a star

I hate that bird, hated it as a child hate it now. I don't mind using a 15 second slower route to avoid him. I'm pretty happy with my route, got a 24:16 so far.
