Super Mario Odyssey Current Version runners lose about 45 seconds from tricks exclusive to the legacy version of the game. It would be unfair to compare both on the same leaderboard. So they made separate sub-categories. Not everything will work with filters. Every game is different.

Michigan, USAHydrus5 years ago

Yes that is what is speedrunning about. But if you actually owned the console version you would not want to be compared to PC runners. It is objectively unfair as experienced by many top level IL Players and even one of the developers who is a mod of this game, so that warrants the separation as of right now. Subcats are usually made for the platform not the type of controller you use. That would just be stupid. Also the 99% of games don't separate argument is not true. I have seen plenty of games that do something similar if there are enough actual differences besides just load times.

Michigan, USAHydrus5 years ago

Trust me I thought the same way, but the camera and timer differences between Console and PC would just be extremely unfair to put both on the same leaderboard/compare each other to. This was especially an issue with IL's inside the game because some were made way easier with PC Controls.

Michigan, USAHydrus5 years ago

Unfortunately the only place IL times are tracked for this game are at Cyberscore, so some of the first place times won't even have video or some sort of proof. Hopefully it helps you out though. https://www.cyberscore.me.uk/game/1279 Jocke won't add a level leaderboard here because this game is pretty much inactive so.

Splatoon 1 New Game IL's are arbitrary and stupid. Also, fairly unpopular. They were okay I guess because you just used the same weapon for every level. But for Splatoon 2 its a different weapon every time. Also for some levels the weapon choice is stupid like the ROLLER ON BOSS 2! This player Spacecore submitted a bunch of S1 records for New Game and TonesBalones/ThunderFilms realized how dumb the category is. They plan to remove it very soon. If you want to learn Any% for Hero Mode watch Movefish's tutorial series and ask questions in the Discord.

Those games are fucking huge and have WAY more strats/nuances than Splatoon 2 will ever hope to have. Of course they would require a website to house all of that info. Splatoon 2 doesn't require that whatsoever. So sorry. The best we'll ever need is some tutorials and strategy sheets which I'm making. But tbh full game stuff is dying off. Hard. Even with Octo even though I don't want it to. Only IL's are reasonably active as of late.

Digital will always be faster than a physical copy of the game. That's a mostly consistent fact. If you want to be truly competitive you'll purchase the digital copy of this game if you haven't already. Just a fact of life.

@tubiek No he's referring to the load time differences in full game categories between having a digital copy versus a physical copy of the game. Individual Levels in this game have nothing to do with load times because we use the In-Game-Timer anyway.

Thank you very much! I just saw this and will edit it appropriately.

With some Japanese players taking precedence over just beating their personal best versus submitting their times to a leaderboard, this has created a small discrepancy with the fastest time for some categories. Also, adding the JP Leaderboards into the equation further makes things a bit more complicated. With this post I hope to clear some confusion for anyone wondering what the truly fastest times for each category are. So maybe it could provide some motivation to beat them one day. Also, yes I'm aware some are super obvious like Any%. But I'm just doing this out of my appreciation for the game/community. So here we go!

Any% in 1:27:55 by Neurotaku (American) played with a NTSC PS3 on July 21st, 2017- (there does not exist a faster time anywhere)

Any% Hard in 1:44:21 by Notohanto (Japanese) played with a JP PS2 on June 4, 2017- (there does exist a faster time but it is on the JP Leaderboards by Japanese player Shirapon, and no video exists of the run. Played on a JP PS3 with a final time of 1:40:02) https://gyazo.com/998bd44f9305e1fc274abcbb3a8a5d52 SOURCE: http://wonder2005.wiki.fc2.com/wiki/%E3%83%8F%E3%83%BC%E3%83%89

Normal Time Attack in 37:21 by Shirapon played with an NTSC PS3 on November 14, 2016- (there does not exist a faster time anywhere)

Hard Time Attack in 51:22 by Notohanto played with a JP PS2 on April 14, 2017- (there does not exist a faster time anywhere)

Any% Queen's Sword in 1:29:46 by Notohanto played with a JP PS2 on October 27, 2017- (there does not exist a faster time anywhere)

Through all my research, I happened to find three world records without proof (just existing as a photo or a video showing the time and not the actual run) I want to post this for anyone who is crazy enough to possibly beat these and for accuracy purposes. They are as follows:

Normal Time Attack Valus in 14s 840ms by Japanese player Unidone. Region is JPN / NTSC on a PS3. Date of the Nico Nico video is July 8th, 2016. Time of upload 3 PM Japanese time. The description states that a time within the 13 second range is possible. Video showing the time: () NOTE: Due to this website's API not recognizing the Nico Nico player I just put parentheses around the video link. Just simply copy and paste it into your browser's address bar to watch it. It will take a bit to load unless you have a Nico Nico account however, so be weary. SOURCE (originates from the Japanese leaderboards): https://gyazo.com/a12e7c4eed5f63b50c85f3324aeb081a http://wonder2005.wiki.fc2.com/wiki/%E3%83%8E%E3%83%BC%E3%83%9E%E3%83%AB

Normal Time Attack Phaedra in 40s 340ms by Japanese player Unidone. Region is JPN / NTSC on a PS3. Date is unknown. SOURCE (originates from the Japanese leaderboards): https://gyazo.com/fde88eeb11273045723bce3850006aac http://wonder2005.wiki.fc2.com/wiki/%E3%83%8E%E3%83%BC%E3%83%9E%E3%83%AB

Normal Time Attack Basaran in 29s 010ms by Brazilian player Marcelo (speedrun.com account is Madorashi https://www.speedrun.com/user/Madorashi) Region is USA / NTSC on a PS2. Date is unknown. SOURCE (originates from this Youtube video where he performs the Basaran NTA World Record and at the end it shows his best time is better than the record)

Small note, apparently Marcelo performed a time slightly faster than the current Phalanx NTA record but was done on a friend's PS3 without having access to a cell phone for taking a picture. He doesn't remember the exact time but just another small incentive to go for. Date is unknown.

Seems like the sole moderator/series moderator El-Nino has been inactive on this website for about a month. His website/Twitch/Youtube also seems like he's heavily inactive on. So no reliable way to contact him. Would suggest following this thread and asking to become moderator of this game/series. Sorry you haven't gotten the information you wanted and hopefully it helps.

https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/63nr7/279

This thread is specifically for moderation requests and changes for already existing leaderboards. Please link to the game to help facilitate requests.

Requesting games/series not yet on the site: Use the form here. (https://www.speedrun.com/requestgame)

Please keep in mind that using this thread is a last resort, in case the current moderators are not responding or refusing your help without justification. You should always start by asking the Super mods of a game/series as they are also able to add mods. Best way to contact game mods is probably through Twitter for now. Also try the game forums, many users get notifications when threads are created for games they follow.

Moderator inactivity doesn't apply until around 3 weeks, depending on other circumstances, and it is expected that you try to contact them (exceptions may be made if they have been offline ~3+ months.)

An admin or full mod will respond to your post when they review it; if there is no response, it hasn't been reviewed yet.

EZScape has a cash bounty for both of your world records. Watch this video to understand.

Hey thanks Deniu! Didn't see the thread reply until now. I tried this and still can't watch the demos. Am I doing something wrong? And holy crap its TimDoherty himself! I'm amazed you even found this website. What an old-school speedrunner. Yeah this guy named ShaftShambler re-uploaded your Nightmare 100% run through parts on Youtube. Sure you already found it. Your Easy and Nightmare 100% Records are the oldest untied world records with video proof on this website! That's insane. Hopefully someone can beat them soon. Also, that would be great if you could get your runs onto your channel. Make those time capsules more viewable for a modern audience. I just volunteered to do it because I don't mind doing it.

Michigan, USAHydrus5 years ago

Wow what a shame. Thanks for letting me know! I will take this down.

Michigan, USAHydrus5 years ago

Hey was looking through this guy's channel and he has a no damage run of Claire A with a faster IGT than Carcinogen. Surprisingly he seems to have the animations in the video! Nothing is cut out from what I could observe. I would like a moderator/s to scrutinize the video and see if it's a legitimate run. The video below is the run I edited together from the source videos, also corrected some video overlap between the videos which existed.

(NOTE: after mod review the run was turned out to be spliced, unfortunate but I removed the video to not spread misinformation, if you desire the link I can PM you on Discord. Otherwise it's private)

Thanks in advance.

P.S. If anyone could discern which platform he's playing on that would also be great because he doesn't state it. Was able to skip cut-scenes though.

P.S.S. Here are the original source videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA37385A4437A2E82
