I've been talking to a few members of the DC2 community and wondered what the chances of 100% completion runs being added to teh leaderboards would be. This would entail collecting everything (All Files, Dino Files, Weapons, Sub Weapons, Items etc). Me and a couple of others feel this would be a fun category to add and would be good to mix it up from the usual grind.
Let me know your thoughts! Dave
Well, I want to know what kind of completion do you want to get? Because there is possible to kill ALL dinos in the game... And it will take veeeeery muuuuuch tiiiiime and will NOT be so interesting.
If there is a plan to get everything you can in the game then it is wrong to name such category as "100%". Let it be "High%", for example. That one would be really interesting... No... Both... Title and conditions. For example, I have never heard about "High%" category. Looking at such title I would be interested in what I have to do there... And there is written: "Complete the game, collecting all red (Dino) and blue files, all improvements, weapons and secondary items (EPS Cards and more)." Sounds like a cool challenge cause there are so much ways to investigate new category...
You find me in favor of adding a new category to spice things up, but I'm not sure 100% is the best way to go though. I'm afraid it would be just a massive grind for points, making the overall run boring.
Unfortunately NG+ has no sense in this game, the run would be identical to Any%.
Personally I was more thinking about a category similar to Nemesis% in RE3, where we need to kill T-Rex, Plesiosaurus and also Allosaurus (where they don't respawn) at every encounter ...or anyway a category down that line. It is similar to your idea in a way, you need to grind points for powerful weapons, but at least for a in-game reason.
Anyway I'm not staying in the way of your idea, if this is what the community wants. I'm neutral on this matter.
Either way, it would be really useful to have a test/exhibition from someone to show the Mods a full run and to prove the feasibility of the run itself.
100% implies grinding, since the game has this kind of economy. I'm for the new category.
Just to recap what a 100% category would require to obtain:

Let me know if this works and if I'm forgetting something.
Yeah I would not consider the ammo cartridge upgrades an object and so keeping it out of the list.
and I would also keep the EPS Platinum Card out of the list because it can be obtained only post run with extra credits.
However, now that I'm thinking we could consider to allow the EPS Platinum Card (NG+/Infinite ammo) from the start of the run, in order to facilitate the grinding for points in game. Opinions?
It would be NG+100% then. It might help, but I'd wait for a feedback from others.
My wording is slightly off of course. 100% probably isn’t the way of describing the category. The list that RapixOnGaming has made with all the requirements is exactly what I was aiming at. Call it a “Collector’s%” if you will. Essentially collecting everything that can be collected from the game in one run. I can have a look at the feasibility of this run and potentially put a video together for you guys to look at although I’m sure others will be willing to do so also. I feel it would bring back the casual arcade grind of the game to the runners that run it and I feel they’d see it as an enjoyable run. “All bosses” is another category that could be implemented. Fight T-Rex to the point where the on screen message tells you it’s useless. Allosaurus at the Research Facility. Nessy Knocking T-Rex down in the tank. First Ginganto fight Final Giganto fight.
All Bosses sounds not so great to me. There are no real optional bosses, except for Nessy. You can knock T-Rex down as many times as you want in the tank session (it will be back after a couple of camera angles). You could go for killing all enemies, since they should stop spawning after you've killed enough of them in each room ;)
@DeepStackDave what's your thought about the small variation of allowing the EPS Platinum Card, making the category the facto a "NG+ 100%"? I feel it would make the category more appealing, way less tedious and unnecessary long.
I would keep the naming "100%" rather than "Collector’s%". 100% is already a perfect definition of what has been proposed here. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedrun "100%, or full completion, requires the player to complete the game to its fullest. This often includes collecting all key items or upgrades, finding all secret features, or anything else that may be deemed important." In no game in the 100% category you need to kill a certian amount of enemies.
About the “All bosses” is something we can consider and discuss in the future maybe, but for now let's go in order. My bad proposing that in this thread, let's keep this thread about the 100% proposal.
I liked "Collector´s %" name, i´m also fine with 100% or whatever. I just want to USE THE OTHER WEAPONS PLS, make it happen!!!
RapixOnGaming big list of requirements looks about right to me what the category should require. Only question I see sticking out is verifying that everything has been purchased and/or picked up. Dino files is super easy since at end screen it tells you X/11, weapons you can show at final Regina/Dylan shop (Silo for Regina & Facility Entrance). That just leaves the blue disks, which I'm unsure of a good way except showing all files after the final one is grabbed. Other option is for whoever is verifying to keep note of everything. I think the ammo upgrades don't matter, do they even have a realistic limit to hit? All Bosses seems so-so to me, but if others do want it, I would probably give it a try.
@Kaladere That's not a problem. Runs need to be watched anyway for verification. It's a bit tedious keep track of all files, but not a big deal.
@Vendettavic Don't worry, it's happening. We need to define the remaining little details and then we need a first exhibition run from someone.
Nobody has expressed an opinion regarding the infinite ammo for the category yet. Anyone?
