Videoformat for Run-submission

Hi IoG-community,

I am totally new to all this and I want to upload my first run ever now for IoG-Any%. Two quick questions:

  1. Which video-format do you usually use for submission? I have a .flv-file.

  2. Could I ask where you would upload that? I don't have twitch. Dropbox says it'll be 5 hours? Does that go quicker?

Many thanks for the inspiration and the super-helpful VoDs! Greets,

Hi,

It will be highly preferred if you could provide a link where the video is directly visible (youtube or twitch) rather than a download link. I don't know about .fiv files, maybe you can try getting that into Youtube. Otherwise, if you're playing on console, I'd suggest recording with Amarec + capture card of your choice, that's what I use and I know that Amarec makes .avi files which work decently with Youtube.

The easiest solution though is to stream on Twitch and just configure your Twitch profile so that it keeps your VODs. :)

Hi Hulk,

Thanks a lot for the reply. I will probably upload to twitch for now and then see whether I can get into streaming in the long run.

Boom,

Just to re-hash what Hulk said, be sure to configure twitch to store past videos/broadcasts. I just lost my first submission to that mistake...

Hi Tymekeeper,

Sorry, totally missed your answer. I don't know whether that's applicable to my case since I don't actually stream, but I record and upload (connection too bad for streaming, I think). Since I can't seem to find a highlight tab, I suspect that uploads are not subject to the twitch-deletion policy.

Thanks for the reply though!

Boom,

I gotcha. The upload thing seems to work. I was just a bit bitter b/c that had happened to me, that day? Day before? Something like that. I noticed you were using OBS. Something to think about/play with: I was getting a lot of lag using OBS when I was streaming the entire desktop (what it looked like you were doing). I fixed it by changing it from a desktop capture to a game capture (and I think a window capture for the splits). Like I said, something to try (or not, go with what works in the end).

Really good run though. Now you just gotta practice on the vamps some more ;) I was going to say something about you not needing all the safety herbs, but you found a use for them. Dying, by far, trumps other potential time losses, so good job at keeping that to a minimum!

Also, you taught me a small optimization in Mt. Temple, so thanks for that!!

Hi Tymekeeper,

Thanks a lot, and I'm happy I could help a bit with Mt. Temple. Congrats on your run in 100%, too! Might watch that tonight. Also, I'll check your hint on OBS.

Totally agree - I put off those damn vampires long enough as I just wanted some fun actually running the game for starters. But I guess it's time to take those on now.
