Here's an extreme example of why the ending screen doesn't constitute proof: http://gfycat.com/OccasionalPlasticBlackfootedferret
In more practical terms, it could easily be taken from a segmented run, for example.
I understand it seems arbitrary to accept a 50 but not a 49, but it would be arbitrary wherever the line is drawn. I hope you don't think you're not being taken seriously, but in my opinion recording any good run should be a standard.
Sorry, the ending screen doesn't really constitute proof. Please consider investing in a game boy player!

however, I see now that flags still show as "UK" on game pages.
I requested something similar a while back: http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/g79jt/14#f97nr
So you guys are saying:
- the machine as "fullgame" runs
- other nifflas levels as ILs
- other levels as romhacks
I am fine with this arrangement. Not sure exactly which levels theunoriginalname wants on the board but I would be fine with anyone submitting whatever to romhacks (as long as it's not like 100 different levels)

Changed: Mods can no longer delete runs, only reject them if needed. Users can still delete their own runs if they so desire. Contact a full mod if you think a run should be deleted but you can't because of this change.
I wonder if "series moderators have power here" should be unchecked by default (I think it is currently checked by default?). It is a nice idea in many circumstances, but seems to cause plenty of problems too.
This is something I've touched on before - on the one hand, it's odd to have a super metroid-shaped gap in speedrun.com, but on the other hand, if deertier is still being used exclusively by runners, then trying to mirror it on this site just means our leaderboard is likely to lag behind and become inaccurate. When I spoke to mrlandmaster a (very) long time ago he said he thought deertier would eventually be replaced by SRL leaderboards, but I have no idea what he or the deertier mods think about speedrun.com.
Also from that post: "Secondly, when you've followed games, instead of the 'Games' button in the navigation bar sending you straight to the page showing all games, it will show a list of all the games you are following (currently limited to showing max 15 to avoid it getting too long) as well as a button to still reach the page showing all games. "
ie, you can follow more than 15 games.
nice
The runs do in fact appear on the leaderboard. However, the board is set to "platforms only" by default, so emulator runs don't show up; you have to choose "emulators and platforms" in order to see them.
As for the "verified by woutt64" thing, I'm guessing the leaderboard is set up so that submitted runs don't require any verification.
It seems strange to me to have a platform for which it is essentially impossible to submit videos. I know nothing about kirby & the amazing mirror, but for other gba games it would be an unnecessary complication to have two separate platforms, so maybe it would be best as a variable for that game only?
In any case, what were your thoughts about following series, would it do anything different than following games?
biggest thing for me is getting notifications on series forums, since these currently don't show up on http://www.speedrun.com/forum
Sorry I never followed up on this. I think for the moment we'll be keeping this series for official games only. However, am2r has a page here, so I would encourage you to submit Confrontation as its own game and have the two added to a series. :)
ah I see, sorry :)
The problem I was having was just yet another by-product of metroid fusion's wonky sorting requirements: IGT is the default sort, but ideally runs with lower RTA would obsolete older runs with the same IGT.
seems like obsoletion using extra variables is the bigger issue here. I have noticed this on other games (maybe I already posted about it? I forget) where a run with the same IGT but faster RTA won't obsolete the previous one.
Tangential to the above request, something I was wondering about: as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong here), most mmx players use jokaah's leaderboards much more than they use this site. In cases like this, would the purpose of speedrun.com/mmx4 simply be to be a mirror of jokaah's site, or would it represent something else?
Not talking about mmx specifically, there are a many games where a speedrun.com page exists, but an external leaderboard is more actively used by the community. In most cases it's not a problem, but there are some boards that end up not being kept accurate because the runs are submitted elsewhere. I don't know what the solution to this is, but maybe some way to link to an external leaderboard would be a good idea?
So currently, pages that sort by IGT order tied runs by RTA if it's available. This is great! Now I'd like to request going even further: an option (not sure if it should be default or not) to actually break the ties instead of just sorting within them. For example, http://www.speedrun.com/fusion would keep its runs in the exact same order, but it would list JRP as 1st, biospark as 2nd, kahdoom as 3rd, and so on.
