Don't worry about me and my time Nester, it's all good. I submitted my run over a year ago when I was pretty new at streaming/speedrunning and pretty much left it up to the mod to determine my run time. I don't even know if I knew how to frame count back then.
I endorse any and all changes to timing for this game to either make it easier for either future runners or mods to verify run times.
Every time I ran the game and would end up messing up the run somehow I would always consider just softlocking the run and despawning Freddy, but I would sometimes fail at that too lol
What exactly is the difference between either character? I'm just beginning to learn this game and the difference isn't super obvious to me yet. Is it more advantageous to get both sword upgrades for Blue Twin and spam magic bombs with Red Twin?
Just looking at my ROM library (I torrented the whole Sega Genesis/Mega Drive/32X library in one large zip file), and there are two roms for Daze: the official release, and a Beta version (the beta has 3 roms, the official release has 1).
Is there any way to monitor the frame rate on screen for the retroarch and whatever emulator you have loaded? It'd be interesting to see if the roms were running at different rates.
Frame rate is dictated by the console, not the cartridge, so in theory if you were to put the mega drive game in a NTSC North American Sega Genesis then it would run at 59.92 fps. Only early-release games are capable of this (I play Castle of Illusion on a mega drive cart on my model 2 Genesis), otherwise region lock prevents it. Emulator may be a different beast though.
Yeah, I suspect the Switch will be added as a console fairly soon seeing as the VC and SNES Classic are allowed. I guarantee though that use of save states and/or rewind feature will not be permitted.
From their YouTube channel:
We might be able to swing something. Once GDQ is over and BoosterShane gets back online in a few weeks we should be able to get something together.
I can't see why not. It'd be interesting to see if the current-gen versions of the game are any quicker than the 32X.
A new runner appears, yesssss. Welcome to the team, dude.
It's likely that it's been (falsely) targeted as a copyright infringement on the game audio. Same thing happens with all my LoZ VODs. Just a stupid remix/cover by said artist that they then use to ding the actual game music and videos that have it.
There's not much you can do about it. I've tried appealing these things on twitch, I've never had anything resolved (versus on YouTube where they get resolved in decent time). Only thing you can do, if you want to use the video without any muted audio, is to also record your runs to your computer and upload them to YouTube.
Yeah that's what I thought would happen. For the head+hand fight there, I think I was doing damage to the glove while Freddy head was still alive, I wonder if I finished the hand first if I would have been able to finish the boss.
To add to this...
I tried intentionally softlocking the Freddy fight since I wasn't going to PB. I didn't know which pixel it was so I was trying out a few throughout several runs tonight. I found the pixel but walked one pixel past it. Not sure what "normally" softlocking the game looks like, but this is how I did it:
Emulator runs, by default, are hidden in the leaderboard. Just select emulator runs to be shown in the options to see the full board.
The retron5 just dumps the roms from the game and emulates it. So the real question is: is the retron5 an allowed emulator?
So, what's the highest number of boss battles you've had to do during boss rush? I was just unlucky enough to spawn SEVEN ghost Freddy fights. Legit thought I had softlocked and was going to reset.
I've never done the wrong warp myself, but it would appear to be a bit of a challenge to set up. For a marathon I would consider just doing a no wrong warp run, and if time permits showing off the wrong warp glitch since it only takes about 3 minutes to complete.
Have you ever successfully performed a wrong warp before?
any% no wrong warp is an easy enough category to play through. I used to play through the game with fellow non-gamers, and we had our own work record time which we traded back and forth. With maybe a months practice between all of us, we were finishing the game in between 13 and 15 minutes.
Thanks all. I've been trying my best to just lightly tap the jump button, with mixed results. Practice will probably help. It seems like I'm more likely to make the jump if I don't get a running start, which seems sort of counter-intuitive.
