As Quake Live lacks a "30 Frags vs. Bots" gametype, every submitted run is using its own advantageous settings, and no one competes under the same conditions. In this game which has hundreds of console commands, runs are all about who tweaks the game the most.
For example, the currently fastest run lowered the HP of bots by 99% in order to instakill them, and is played in a map that's not officially in the game (Revolver). And yet that is a possibility according to the rules. Which is frankly silly.

Do note that run is indeed against the rules regardless. It exceeds the maximum number of bots (10); and since bots respawned immediately then g_respawn_delay_min was indeed set to the banned setting (0). But that's beside the point. The point is this should not be a category in the first place.
BTW, this category is so broken that technically one could make a 2 seconds run, by spawning with the kamikaze item and just using it four times lol. Among many, many other ways to essentially cheat to "achieve" something playing videogames lol.

Current ruleset for reference:

Come to think about it, the entire "levels" section should be removed for that same reason as well.
Since there's no official "30 Frags vs. Bots" gametype in the game, a player could for instance change command values to make the shotgun shoot 100 times per second. And it would count.
And it's truly impossible to police that. Because it'd be the longest ruleset ever made, since QL has hundreds of commands. And since there's no way to know if players didn't change commands anyway.
So, the only categories that make any sense are Training Center - Accelerate. and Training Center - Elevate. Because those are the only "gametypes" that have a set way to launch them, and therefore have an official ruleset.
Lastly, I'd also suggest to add two rules to the ruleset of those two categories. Those are a "no changing game physics or any kind of settings" rule. And also adding that cg_speedometer should be set to 1, 2, or 3; in order to at least have a way to guess if the physics were tweaked (the numbers show if the running speed is quicker than the default one etc.).

Or... Instead of removing the 14s and 018ms run I completed and beat the prior by 008ms, after trading first place numerous times over the prior 2.5 years... perhaps you can nod and state "Good job" and we can ask for more speedruns with specific rulesets.
I didn't break 30 seconds until Supremee decided to get cheeky and unseat me with his lame method which I duplicated.
Still gotta respect it; I respect everyone who is giving it a go.
@avens Hey, before calling me out, we should acknowledge that SECOND PLACE which 008ms slower, was the first to add this instagib nonsense in the runs to beat my time; this was SUPREMEE; after supreme was certified I copied HIS method and beat his time. Don't just post my speedrun as if I am somehow the lone ranger. I followed what beat my previous 1st place time and then beat them.
EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I felt this way when my first place was unseated initially, therefore I grinded at the same ruleset the (at the time) new first place had used... and beat it.
I think it was near impossible to beat my OG first place time prior to Supremee adding in the new rulesets, but they wanted to dethrone me... thus its fair game EDIT X2: No one has beaten my time yet, with kamikaze or any other method you mentioned - If that happens /then/ it is a problem but we shouldn't worry about console commands as "what ifs" when they arent being used currently.... it is setting a bad example for everyone....
With all of that said; I am on your-side at a clip higher than 90% agreement, although as stated I used the tools that beat me, to beat those who beat me... after it was allowed for them to use and beat me. ;)
- I hope we get more runs in other categories as Quake.. especially Quake Live is the greatest game ever and I wish more people spent time trying to speedrun it. It not only improves a players tracking and movement but overall game sense.
Edit #3: g_respawn_delay_min was never altered. I don't know why you jumped to this conclusion to be honest... Supremee's video had the same spawn rate or he wouldn't have been 008ms slower.
FINAL EDIT: Look, I understand that some people do not like me in the Quake Community for reasons that they either have as deep personal grudges or those who act upon hearsay and automatically dislike me for "trying" or "being good enough" - Reading the thread and response on my run makes it seem like you are intentionally highlighting me... which the QuakeCon and Quake Community has had no problem doing against my wishes for years now. I'm sorry you guys don't give me a chance to be "cool enough" to be in your club; I apologize for loving the same game as you all; I am sincerely sorry that I also love the same thing as you thus making us closer than you'd like...
But you have to admit - "Wind ran that run fast". If you can do it faster.. submit it.
