I've been watching runners a lot recently like Bawkba and Carcinogen and really wanted to try my hand at all this speed running. After talking with a lot of streamers and such, I've decided to run Resident Evil 2 - PC, as most were saying it's relatively new runner friendly. I've never run any games before, but I'm definitely looking forward to trying a lot of this out! I was looking to try out Leon A to start and see how it goes before I make any bigger decisions, but I really love the Resident Evil franchise. Hope to get along with you guys and the like. I'll have to download some splits software soon so I can start practicing runs!
Hello royzoga :) good luck with your runs! If you have any problems just ask here and everyone will be more than willing to help you out
Altnatively you can join the RE discord and any questions you have you may ask here Http://discord.gg/Ww8d8Nh
hello royzoga, i am a new runner also! and i started out with Claire A. i am so happy someone else is interested in speedrun this game, particularly the PC version! i suck at the game though, since i'm new at it, we can challenge eachother, because we are both new to this!!
Welcome!
RE2 is a good game to start with when it comes to speedrunning. Try not to reset too much in the beginning and skip the doors after 3 seconds =)
I was on danger when I reached the RPD on my first speedrun attempt at Leon A xD
speaking of questions, i just did a leon a speedrun and did a very crappy speedrun. i have a question about the livesplit. please can you have a look at it. the timer went way ahead of the actual speedrun. i thought i did worse than i already did, it was about 5 minutes higher than it should be. my speedrun is crappy
Thanks for the warm welcome, people! I'll be looking into practicing a bit more this weekend now that I've got the controls just how I want them. Well, that and I need to look into getting some live splits for getting it to work. In the mean time, I went ahead and joined the Discord, so I'll link my name on my profile, luckily it's the same name, haha. I'll be sure to bug you guys if I have any questions or concerns, thanks again!
In game time (IGT) is minutes faster then real time. So I believe your run its normal LoanSharkJoe
thanks for telling me! but how do i show the time i saved, if you look at my speedrun it doesn't show that at livesplit! i need help on that!
@LoanSharkJoe you have to compare against Game Time and Personal Best (or best/avg). just right click on livesplit and go to compare against.
Change your settings to this:
you also need the script for Leon A to show IGT. Everything can be found here: http://www.speedrun.com/re2/resources If you dont want all doors splits then you can delete all of the numbered splits.
