I was pretty surprised to find i had runs to verify for this game. its been a couple of years since dub beat my wr record. we i kinda lost interest... i got invited to a discord about atv speedrunning etc. since i was a mod i thought i could probably bring interest in the game again. Mainly speedrunning and new glitches, skips, etc etc. please, keep running the game. ill come back when the time is right. dont worry, ill verify all runs. i might have to give me a couple of days... mgb x btv
I saw recent activity too, very nice!
I have a run on %Amateur on my computer, but I'm confused with "In Game Time". Do I + times from all the levels together? Think I did that from the #1 run and it didn't add up. Or is there a total IGN I'm too blind to see?
I believe the the total time should just be the sum of the five race times. Current rankings may need to be adjusted.
Hey, I just rediscovered this game from my childhood and I happened to also want to try getting into speedrunning, so I'm here now. One question though, I'm emulating the game on my computer through the Dolphin GCN emulator, my runs can still count right?
"since this game is pretty small im allowing emulators but once this game gets bigger or we have a problem with cheaters, i have to ban them." A forum post from the super mod.
if I where you I would also add controller input on the screen, this makes cheating very hard.
Here's the one I use for my runs, it's very easy to setup. https://gamepadviewer.com/
There's guides on youtube and the site itself (drop down menu) if u get confused how to set it up.
yeah, we add up the time from all races for submissions. you are allowed to take breaks in between races within reason. i wont verify a 9 hour video lol as far as emulators, maybe a complete separate leader board? im going to try the emulator out sometime soon when i can find my controllers.
I have a controller input tracker, the dolphin emulator has one baked in, but if you think a third party software would be more secure then I could get one. I don't think emulators would constitute an issue in a game like this though cause its all self contained races with internal timers, and I'm not really sure what kinds of cheats you could even use. the only thing I can think of would be increasing max speed, but there's a speedometer in the game so anyone could see you're cheating.
Personally, all my runs so far have been using an Emulator. It makes it much easier to record the runs, and it has so many quality of life features. I understand that cheating is a potential issue, but I think it is quite visible in runs if you inspect the run closely.
