Oh boy, I struck on a gold mine when testing resource gathering rates today. With perfectly placed Storage Pit, a villager normally gathers 54 gold in 1 minute real time (2:00 game time). With Gold Mining upgrade, however, it is insane 90 gold in 1 minute. That's 2/3 increase! To achieve the goal here, we need to gather 1800 gold. If my math checks out, the upgrade, costing 100w 120f, pays itself back and much more, allowing us to go with less villagers. This finding makes me also ask questions on other levels - there may be trivial improvements out there (and relatively easy WRs)!
I made 4 villagers less than Tei meaning that in theory I should get 40 seconds faster time. Somehow I managed to lose time making this run only 7 seconds faster. I believe sub 10min is possible with little optimizations.
