I tried looking on archive.org and all I got was the bonus disc. Which one is the executable, and which one doesn't have viruses attached to it?
I am not sure about Archive.org without looking at the exact link however I can give the details on the physical disk and its contents since this was something that was actually gifted to me and I have the physical version.

It only runs seems to windows XP or earlier, so I had to run it on a very old Japanese Prius computer. I tried on about 5 different pc's.

The disk name is LAKIBATO, its 192 MB

It contains Direct X in its own folder, dotnetfix in its own folder, an AUTORUN, icon file, a setup application file, a Setup windows installer, and a 3kb note file on how to run the game.

I imagine Virtual Box might work, but I was not able to get the compatibility mode to work on any of the laptops.
I'm trying that as soon as possible whenever I get the network drivers downloaded on virtualbox (it needs internet for net framework)
Done all the steps on VirtualBox. However, even with DirectX 9.0C, I get this error when starting the executable.
I don't know what to do at this point
It could just be the error with the pc your using which was the issue I had. the only work around I had was to run the game on an ancient pc.
The other option is ask other members how they ran the game.

I was able to get it to work without a virtual machine (just on my Windows 10 laptop). I think the key thing was to change my system locale to Japanese before unzipping and installing it.
that's what i did myself but joy2key doesn't work for the game so i'm forced to play with keyboard
