So i've changed the design. All your runs are gone and you'll need to re-submit. Also now if you have any doubt about the validity of your run just go for glitched%
Also, since turn resets ALSO reset the IGT... except if you're playing glitched %, you're gonna have to do without resets or use real time
I'm not a huge fan of the IL display on this site, because it doesn't make it easy to see which categories people are running beyond the first runner. For me to find the active category, it requires and additional 12 loads, and speedrun.com often has issues with overloading.
Regarding real time: I'd say from the first point where the IGT is seen to the first appearing of the "Victory" screen. It's just a suggestion though.
Nah. Should be when the bomb explosion cutscene starts. (more specifically : look for the moment when the bottom left pannel disappears.)
A 4-island hard would be rather appreciated, if you don't mind. Can't see the point in having 2-island hard and not 4-island. And, if the IGT is demonstrably false, why not just always use RTA?
its supposed to be 4-island hard. No one runs 4-island easy. Woops!
also the problem with IGT vs real time : on this run my IGT is 16m25 and my real time is between 16m52 and 17m38.
on this run his IGT is 18m41 and his real time between 18m19 and 19:09
somehow, i there's a difference of -27s for my run, and +28s for his run. His IGT stays ~synced during the whole run, mine continually desyncs with real time, and I end up with an IGT 1m faster than it has any right to be. I think we need to start using real-time instead of IGT, like, right now lol. Their IGT is probably dependant on the framerate or some stupid thing like that, which makes everything worse for everyone involved.
I agree, 4-island hard would be nice.
I prefer the old layout though, this new one is a bit confusing compared to most other games' pages.
Also, I think the cutscenes add time to the IGT, that's why it's always off compared to when you end. I don't mind that, it's about 22 seconds or so.
Yeah but it's worse than that. Look at my run at my run. At 1 min there's 10s difference between real time and IGT. at 16 min there's almost a full minute of difference.
Damn, so the IGT is slow apparently. That sucks. Has anyone told the Devs to look into that?
Yes about 2 weeks ago. I'm just gonna calculate the real time by doing : (time when the final cutscene starts) - (time where you click on/mouse over your first island)
IGT - click? Or custom timer - click?
Also, wouldn't it make more sense to start it when you click "start"? (I dunno, that may just be an aesthetic thing.)
Run starts when you gain control of your character (hence starting when you click start), and stops when there's no more significant input (hence when the last turn finishes). Imo that makes sense, and doesn't really change anything for your run.
Also : I'm going to calculate IGT and real time for each run. Real time should let you gain anywhere from 15 to 30s compared to IGT. Having a real time is slower than your IGT voids your IGT because it means that somewhere, you did something that fucked with the IGT (resetting a turn, having a slow computer, pausing the game, etc). For example, my previous run would only have real time on the website, and no IGT.
So I will need to start using a timer then, gotcha. I guess since IGT is fucked we can just use real time instead, but makes sense if IGT is still there. Really sucks that it's slow, would make things so much easier.
I'd prefer a timer but I can still check the length of the video. That works for me too! Also yeah the IGT is now optional, its fine that it's here but yeah... not reliable enough.
Can we get a specific start/stop time added to the rules? I think start on hitting start and end on first test popup after last turn is probably the easiest markers.
I think the timer should start when you gain control, aka when you click on the first island, not when it starts.
