Opening this thread for discussions relative to Individual Levels Leaderboards.

Let's start right away with some ongoing testing taking place on Beltane leaderboards, before being extended to all the levels.

I've been looking for a way to meets several needs :

• display the fastest run by default, glitched or not.
• having glitchless leaderboards for people who likes classic drive style, without checkpoints exploits or Deuch flying.

So what I did to try to reach these goals :

• created a "Any Method" sub category wich would be the default category for ALL the IL runs. It doesn't matter if the track allows glitched runs or not. "Any Method" is the way to go.
• created a "Glitchless" sub category wich will be used ONLY if some glitched runs are posted on the track. For example here on Beltane - 1 Lap , there are two glitched runs with Deuch. So all the glitchless entries are sent to the "Glitchless" Leaderboard.

This layout will allow having two distinct Leaderboards on tracks where glitched runs are possible. And there are quite a few...

I also added a "Original 8 cars" category. For those nostalgic racers who want to race Gamma versus Scorp ! ;)

Feedback is welcome before I extend this to all the tracks ! ;)

Rob I notice you have added new levels. While i dont have a problem with this these are not part of the core game.

I feel this should have been a discussion point. At the very least share a guide to others to get these levels

• About discussing changes, all the post I've made about changes on this board remained unanswered for weeks. Scroll UP, read the threads and you will see I've been talking about changes before doing them.
• now about the subject of adding levels afaik reverse levels are part of the core game. And extended Time levels are also part of the game, as much as the 16 additionnal "gold" levels.
• Are we talking about Aztec ans Fallen then ? Well these are official additionnal levels too, like Mine, like Megapol or any other official tracks. Yes they were not released in an official pack, it's the only difference.

Check out other racing games, all the levels are often displayed.

Nowadays anybody wanting to play POD will be using POD Platinum. And POD Platinum contain all the tracks thx to Ray's wonderful job. What I Can do is post a direct link to Pod's discord server on our ressource page where people can find POD Platinum easily.

Why should we limit content here ? Let's drive people to content instead.

I'd be glad to discuss changes ideas with you but I have the feeling you're kinda off the game and off SRC as well. Maybe if you showed up more frequently ? I'm posting board threads and news articles to announce/discuss my ideas. So far only Splaysh answered once or twice, Always positively.

To end this, all the changes I've made were made to improve the page while trying to stay true to the game.

Next step would be to add the OEM tracks. Because they're so nice ;)

Sorry this one wasn't discussed on the board. I went straight to the news feed. But it could have triggered a discussion if someone read it. ^^

I would hesitate much more populating the list with some weird fan-made track with discutable design, weird gameplay, bugs, glitches, etc. But all the tracks added so far are official, and offer a good gaming experience.

As said previously I'm planning to add the OEM tracks to the IL list.

Pros :

• Those tracks are official.
• Those tracks are available in Pod Plat.
• They're looking so much better than the other ones !
• They're also more technical and offer quite a different gameplay experience AND a higher challenge.
• More content to compete on = more playing, more fun ! :)

Cons :

• ? open to discussion.

Check out the "Game installation on modern systems" thread in the Guides tab. In there should be a link to a POD Discord server. If you decide to join it, click on the Pinned Messages at the top in the #beltane channel in the server and there will be a download for POD Platinum. It comes with every official track/car that was available as downloadable content on the old Ubi-Soft POD site, as well as stuff from the official expansion packs: Back To Hell and Extended Time, and even a few unofficial stuff that was available on old POD fansites back in the day.

The tracks are real beauties, and part from Pod's history. They propose an extra challenge compared to the retail tracks. They're all included in the Platinum version we're all using now.

With the growing interest for the O8 category, and this thing is fun for sure, we've been talking about a G16 or G8 category. Meaning a category including either O8 + G8 cars, or with G8 cars only.

O8 standing for "Pod original 8 cars"

G8 standing for "Pod Gold 8 cars"

The point is clearly to give some new life to those cars, encouraging players to play a wider variety of cars. After all Shark, Fuego, Stinger, Deuch and Arakn are about all you'll ever drive if you're aiming for "Any Method" WR's.

Thoughts ?

Excluding arakn, how good are the G8 cars compared to the O8? If they are objectively better we need to separate O8 from G8 and wouldn't make a difference if the new category was G8 or G16 as only gold cars would be used... but if they are fairly balanced and some O8 cars could be faster or at least competitive around some of the tracks maybe updating O8 to be G16 is a better idea, I can try to hunt some of our O8 times with Jaero later today and see if I can match their pace too easily

I agree with your statement.

All we have to do is run some testing on those cars on different types of tracks. I will definitely give it a go tomorow.

From last week test on Nuke, G8 seemed pretty balanced. But for one very weak (HLRazor), and one quite fast but hard top control (Arakn).

Maybe O8 into G16 will bé a good thing

I am tempted to give it a shot as well, corroborate what Chieppe is attempting, giving another point of data might help see if things get too OP with the extra G8 cars.

G16 Pompeii will definitely tell us how imbalanced Arakn rly is.

What do you think about several car catégories ? For example :

• Anycars

• Underdogs

• Bikes

• ... ?

I could remove O8 from the "Drive style" sub category, and create a "Car pool" sub category in wich we would store these new groups...

I like the idea of having different "ban lists" for cars this way most will have a chance to shine somewhere

O8 have proved to be quite the balanced category, from the 3 tracks we played all of them haad more than one car being submitted at a time and all three seem to have a different "best overall".. also, appart from arakn which is pretty OP gold cars are very balanced and comparable with O8 cars

What do you think about a category where all cars but clearly "OP's" (Shark, Fuego, Arakn, Stinger, maybe Stealth, Deuch) would be ?

It would be like a G15 plus the non OP download able ones.

This would allow O8, G7 and more to compete in a fair (extra cars yet to be tested if course) category, while leaving the top cars away.

Can we update the categories as we learn more about the cars? It would be nice to have something like smogon does with pokemon, dividing them into categories based on usability.. UBER op cars, overused cars, underdogs, maybe a bike class.. but if we see that a car is overperforming in their tier or underperforming too much we could relocate it to a better tier

Also, cars from a lower tier might be allowed to race on higher tiers, but cars from higher tiers are banned from lower leaderboards

Of course we can it's just a rules set, and admin decision to validate runs for this or that category...

Yeah, but it's kinda bad to remove a record because the car used for it is no longe deemed acceptable for said category

Records Can bé moved from a category to another. No removal but just a Moving in case of cat-modification.
