Potential ASE Glitches

Yesteryday, eewalktub and I discussed a little bit about potential ASE glitches including launching the player, allowing the player to hover, and clipping the ASE out of bounds.

Eewalk mentioned that a useful area to clip the ASE was after repairing it and clipping it into the back room instead of flying through the pipe. I tested for a bit and was able to actually find a consistent setup for doing this clip. Heres a video with some more explanation:

As I mentioned, there are probably some other areas this could be useful in, or there may be some other similar glitches to be discovered. I don't have much time currently to do testing, but I'll leave this up for any other contributions.

very interesting!

I did testing of my own in the same corner but with jumping on it instead of running into it. I clipped it into the locker as well but I never thought of what you mentioned with the ASE going to the back left of the player. I noticed it would reset to a position when 'stuck' but that never clicked for me.

Another not of importance is that with my jumping on it at the door behind the repair table, i clipped it through the door which may be more consistent and would avoid oob or the locker.

Big things coming.

Update: I did it.

by placing the ASE in the right and floor-bound corner of the door to the generator room, I ran into it and placed my back-left into the room and he went right in. To know if you're doing it right, the ASE with spazz violently. this trick is consistent.

[EDIT] I found that placing it on the floor makes the trick more difficult as you sometimes walk over the ASE or along side it, try placing it a bit off the floor like knee to shoulder height. You have to then slowly pan your camera to the right to get the correct angle and sort of preemptively 'fish' the ASE into the room. Let's think of a name for this trick. Something better than "ASE clipping."

If it weren't 11pm right now I'd do a run.

I may be too presumptuous by saying this, but ever since noticing the sloped surface slide and launch, and with the further testing of other glitches, the time could be sub hour one day. I can so hope.

The same thing could be done and Tombaugh to skip the ASE pipe sections there

I'm assuming this could save around a minute or so off the run in total. Another thing I've thought about looking into is skipping cutscenes. The cutscenes take up several minutes from the run. I wonder if there is some way to skip some of the cutscene triggers using the ASE with the player (although many aren't caused by triggers) or simply with menuing.

Also, if I had to vote for a name for this glitch, I'd call it something like "stuck-adjusting" or "stuck-clipping", but anything works.

A cutscene I’d like to skip is the hologram when you first pick up the broken ASE but still have full control, there’s no way out of the office or to pick up the ASR until it’s over but having control gives me a feeling.

Me personally I’d like something funny like “door slam” cause we’re slamming it into a door, or “mailboxing” cause it’s like it’s getting pushed through a mail slit in the door. Just a thought.

So I did a run last night, obs messed up again so I couldn’t even time it if it were wr but I was always about 10-30 seconds behind until the end but thanks to mailboxing I caught up and saved a considerable amount of time with it. In a run with a better pace it could easily be sub 1:16. I haven’t had much time to do a lot of runs this week but my weekend is coming up so I can get to it and try for the 1:15, assuming no one beats me to it lol.

With at least a few cutscene skips I’m certain sub hour is possible, if we don’t figure out the sliding glitch first.
