I wanted to discuss what versions of the game are best to run each category and also talk about a possible change to emulation
With N64 I think its the best for any% because in the PC version its impossible to skip the ancient fate level and I have yet to test it on DC but considering its OS is based on windows it was probably also patched.
With N64 emulator there doesn't seem to be as much of a problem with random slowdowns as there are on the actual n64 console. I've recently completed an any% n64 run without dying and using the major skips and ended up with a time of 48:38. This leads me to believe since there's probably a 1:30 minute range where maybe slightly different routing may have added time that there would be an extra minute and a half or so that is saved by running emulator.
I would suggest we do something like move the emulator into its own category, but I feel like that's not something that is okay for me specifically to push. I'm one of 3 people that used a legitimate copy of the game in any%, I cannot post my any% run because obs stopped my recording of the run at random points(I can dm show it if you dm me) and I'm not even close to the WR. If we all feel that way however I think things should change
PC is the fastest at running the game but its inconsistent. There are times where you start the game and it runs faster than the last time. this is a problem with the game that we kinda just have to live around unless we work together to figure out another option(willing to take down my PC runs if thats what it means to make things fair). Due to its faster gameplay and the lack of the ancient fate skip I think this is the fastest for the 100% category.
is there a point to running DC?
I am absolutely for restricting the use of emulators whenever possible. The only case where emulator should be allowed is if the original hardware is expensive/difficult to get or the emulation is so accurate that it doesn't matter. And it seems like none of those apply here. There was recently a change in the Toy Story 2 community, where for years emulator was the standard way to do 30 Token Any%. You can take one look at the board and see how out of hand it got.
Ui_jess I just looked at your PC Personal Record, you where ahead of WR timestamps if you didn't need to do that extra level in world 4. You can skip (at least) 1 level in PC as well in both the second and third world (At least in the Dutch Disney Classics Disk Version), I discovered by accident as a kid, but I couldn't remember how anymore after I came back to the game 2 years ago after not having played it since I was like 8. :/
If you could give me the 48.38 run I can look at them side by side with mine, as I am almost 2 minutes ahead of you, to see what differences I could find.
The original PC game is hard to get running properly on windows 10 PC, especially the European, Dutch, Dutch Disney Classics and UK Disney Classics Versions (I have the Dutch Disney Classics and the basic European Version) (I am not sure of any of these versions except for available languages have technical differences). - They are also really hard to find over here, as Quack Attack was notoriously unpopular in the Netherlands, for people who would want to play the game for speed runs.
The main reason I switched to emulator is because of timing. The PC version can't be played in windowed mode in any way meaning that for me, meaning keeping live splits wasn't possible. (But you have seemed to manage, so if you could tell me how that'd be apreciated)
I did attempt a few runs on PC, but it's so frustrating that I can't keep my time properly. I've been trying to figure out how the skips on PC worked as well in world 2 and 3 (That's why I don't have any new submitted runs since my last one), but so far I've had no luck.

Its hard to get the pc version to run on windows 10, but AMathMonkey found a way. if you want help getting it to work message me on discord( UIJess#9421 ) and I'll get you set up as best I can.
For me I still have mine run fullscreen, but I use a 2nd monitor in order to keep track of my splits. Although, I think I know how to get it to run windowed for you.

I might also try to get the game running today. Would like to see if there is really any way to skip a level in worlds 2 and 3. Can't think of anything besides just needing 3 instead of 4 puzzle pieces (like in world 4 on the n64 version). Or your mind mixes things up with not needing to do the chase levels.
No, I am not confusing it, I know you can enter the chase levels before talking to your nephews by trying to enter on a specific spot behind his back on the PC version in at the least world 1 and 3. The skip I am talking about isn't that, but it's rather stupid that I can't remember how to trigger it.
Is there any way you can give me access to your version of the game ? Otherwise I am not sure if there is a point in trying to find the skip, if we are not sure if it is working in other versions of the game.
So I got the PC version running of a normal game. I want to see if I can get the nephew skip in world 1 or 3 working. I am thinking about what possible ways might be there to get a skip of a level working. So the most obvious one would be getting only 3 puzzle pieces. And otherwise ? Random combinations of level pieces and toys ? I am open for suggestions.
I can confirm the skip SuperSqank provided appears to work in both versions of the game I have as a physical copy, but I can't get it to work in the N64 Emulator US Version, though it's not extremely useful to me, given the fact I only really do any% on this game.
Yes it does, because if you do it first that way before the other levels, then the other levels with the toys and B pieces, you can immediately re-enter the level when the B-piece animation is still ongoing (You can skip the animation of about 2-4 seconds for every level by heading immediately back into the level that way, saving potentially about a minute on the full run.)
It's a glitch I found yesterday, seemingly all the B-piece cutscene in the overworld does is put you stuck in place, but it doesn't disallow you from actually applying button effects, which means as you're stuck for those seconds everything doesn't work except for... punch, which you use to get into the level rather conveniently.
