I don't want the run to be rejected for using Fabric API, the community would probably accept it as the new WR but not on the leaderboards, as I said I don't want it to be rejected but it very well could be, mods are being very lenient as of rn as their new rules, Illumina probably didn't cheat but the run may not be verified, although I hope it does
I don't want the run to be rejected, and it's definitely a huge achievement, but unless we're gonna alter the rules we shouldn't allow Illumina to use fabric api just because he's a respected player. If we start doing that, we're essentially going back 15 years to the days of no video runs accepted as a WR because they were a known player.
I agree and disagree, I don’t want to see the run rejected but based on how they inforce these rules on others, Illuminas run should be rejected because I feel as if it’s unfair to let one run slide just because it’s a well known player, if they changed the rule to make it sort of like this “a run will be rejected for using Fabric API, unless the runner can prove they did not cheat” now idk how someone would do that but if I got a sub20 or soemthing and used Fabric API my run would most likely be rejected as the Java speedrunning community doesn’t know me well and my intentions but we’ll have to see what the mods do
I really have to wonder about all this. I mean correct me if im wrong, but the 14.07 wr had Fabric Api loaded, and ok they made the rule after. But then it begs the question, was the rule not good enough to begin with. If there is a way to show it had no affect, then shouldnt runs be allowed as long as that proof is given. And in that case, if illumina has supplied that evidence and still gets rejected, then shouldnt the previous run be struck based on the same evidence. Then further to that, if anyone can cheat and hence the rule, it shouldnt matter who it is. The rule shoukd be up held. Standing in the community or time spent running means nothing compared to cheating. An unknown name is also not less reputable just because you dont know them. All in all, to me it just says they need to make the rule better. Just come out and say, look it wasnt good enough, fornntely someone got a record that caused us to look closer and was able to show evidence that shows they shouldnt be hampered by the rule, so here is the new rule and we will back track anyone who can give us good evidence in kind. That simple. Otherwise its favourtism for illumina, or unfair.
Yeah if you can prove you didn't cheat and if your run is fully legit they should accept it
to be honest, i don't really think the run getting accepted or not matters too much, considering the fact that twolettername beat it already :I (unless his runs are found to be faked/cheated)
@Karl_Maks i don't doubt that it will be. i don't necessarily agree with that but what can ya do
Holy shit, talk about favoritism. My take is that no exceptions should happen. Rules are rules. Either reject both runs, or unban Fabric.
Yes 100% correct hopefully the mods unban Fabric if they verify the run, because if they don't, it's CLEAR favoritism
to all the people wondering, the mods have already made an announcement in the discord regarding this discussion. You can read it for yourself here https://discord.gg/tDPvR9c
