So the DS game is really different from the PC/Console ones. In my opinion, it should have its own game page. But, you can just make a different category... whatever you feel like. Here it is an example of what a run would look like (I explain more or less what I know - very little, yet - about the game):
It's more than 10:01 because pausing or watching the objectives screen before the victory effect triggers adds to the IGT.
Welp... I'm not a mod, neither a runner of the game. But, a quick research on your YT and Twitch channel shows that you don't even have runs on EMU. If you cared so much on running the game, you would play it on EMU anyway. Not only that, you would have some runs uploaded to your channel as a proof that an EMU leaderboard is a good option to consider. I don't know, every time I've seen posts like these, none of them have an excel with documented EMU runs (one proof that could persuade mods into thinking that people run the game on EMU, even if they are not allowed on the SRCom leaderboards) or just a link to a run made by the writer of the post.
The vote has ended. "Let the player choose the order of levels. The guide "Order of Mission (by story)" will be removed." wins. In the following days rules will change. All runs verified from today will take into consideration these rules.
This will be on for a week. So, results will appear on July 1st.
The following message is in the #battles LEGO Speedrunning Discord channel. If you aren't in the Discord, I recommend going there. If you don't want to go there, you still have a vote on this by replying to this thread with the number that appears before the choices.
I'm finally free. And with that, changes come. I want to bring back the discussion in relation to the level order. I think it might not be the best way to play the game as how the current rules are. One point is that in some acts the game gives you the choice between 2 levels. The current rules would reject a run that doesn't follow the order that is written in the guides section, which chooses for you the level to do in these situations. Also, some games in the LEGO series have decided to let the player choose the order of levels in categories like Replay Story and Free Play (which it is the case for every category in this game, except 100%). So, I present you these two choices, react with the emote shown to choose the way (you can select multiple choices).
- Follow the order as if you would play the game from a fresh file. In cases where multiple levels appear, you can choose the order in which to complete those levels. The guide "Order of Missions (by story)" will be updated.
- Let the player choose the order of levels. The guide "Order of Mission (by story)" will be removed.
- If you want to suggest another way, write this number and write your suggestion.
As this game's community is small and new things are discovered slowly, the leaderboards suffer from changes from time to time. Until now, the updates were only communicated through the LEGO Battles' LEGO Speedrunning Discord channel (where the discussion of the game takes place). From today the updates will be put into this log and through discord. Note: the valid rules are the ones that the "View Rules" button says.
June 4th, 2021 From now on, the only allowed emulator will be Desmume 0.9.11 (in the download page, download the build they say is more stable. It is the first three links, each link for each operating system). Runs before this change will not be affected. The next sentence is for emulator and capture card runs. Reminder that you can use any type of layout (this is new for emulator) making sure you show both screens clearly.
July 27th, 2020 Rules have been set regarding emulators. Don't panic they are very simple. As with the previous updates, runs before this change that don't follow the new rules won't be deleted. This is a rather young community and changes are made as the problems arise. I hope you are comprehensive with this. Nothing more to say. If you have any problems setting up OBS Studio (and similar) don't hesitate on contacting me. As final words, I'll just say that I hope this community grows even more. So, get your Builders ready and GO FAST!!
January 13th, 2020 Game audio is now required, just for the sake of authentication. As you know it is possible to quickly touch the continue button on any level and the results screen doesn't appear. If there is no game audio, I can't tell, sometimes, if it has been pressed or not. Runs affected before this change will still be valid.
October 27th, 2019 Red Brick IL leaderboards have been created. The notation is as follows: (better explained with an example) I want to submit an ACT 2 Earth Red Bricks IL run. Then, Category: ACT 2, Level: Earth RB, Earth Act 2: FULL ACT. To resume, Category: ACT #, Level: [Story] [RB/NRB], [Story] Act #: [Select Level or FULL ACT]. When looking into View All, you will see the FULL ACT times.
26th October, 2019 It wasn't explicitly said in the rules that a video was recquired, but it was when you submit a run. Now the rules say "Video of the run is recquired". Remember that any kind of video is valid if it shows the full run (so webcam runs are totally valid). For emulator runs, they are also allowed. Throughout the following weeks, I will check the best emu so there is fair game between emu and console.
First, make sure to update it to the last version (maybe some bugs related to that are fixed). Second, go to Settings -> Output. Check there that the recording path is a folder easily accesible for you. Third, make a recording test pressing on Start Recording. Lastly, make sure when doing runs that you started recording. In this case the button should change to Stop Recording. Trust me, it has happened multiple times to me when recording som ILs that it was me who didn't press Start Recording. Outside all of this, contact OBS support.
All remakes have a separate leaderboard. Best example is Super Mario All Stars (the SNES one) and each of the GBA remakes of the 2D games. It's not that big of a deal to have different leaderboards.
I used to use my laptop camera at the beginning. So, I don't see where is the problem. Yes, it is a long run... One thing that you can do is not recording the first runs, as they are going to be extremely long because you aren't familiar with the route but after the 3rd or 4th run you can start recording them. This means that you won't be able to submit your first runs, but hey, speedrunning isn't appearing on a leaderboard. Speedrunning is the journey of success, failure, practice and nerves management. And it is beautiful. One thing to add is that once you see that you like speedrunning, a good thing would be to save money for a 20-30 bucks webcam, they are cheap and of enough quality to upgrade the recording setup. Godd luck on your journey and most importantly, HAVE FUN.
If you join the Discord (at the left side of this site) you can find help easier.
I recommend using numbers as hotkeys, as they do not overlap at all. From there, I personally don't know what you can do.
VBA is banned. But, if you read the rules, you can find a link with everything you need to know about the allowed emulator and how to set it up.
As of right now, they are reworking the page, as they want to include the Load Remover. So first, be patient about submitting runs. Secondly, you can enter the discord server (which is on the left side of this site) and submit your suggestions (I agree that there must be an option for all the platforms. But, just be patient or when submitting, make sure that you submit to the "1-7 Collection" categories and as of right now, put that the run is on PC and on the comments write that the run was performed on PS4). You can also use the server to ask questions about the run and also to share your progress. Everyone will be willing to help. Also, GL on this journey, it'll be fun.
Play the game casually... like for real. That way you familiarize with the basic possibilities regarding movement. From there beat it again, it gets you familiarized with the game a bit more. From here, watch runs and watch tutorials for basic speedrun movement. And go easy and complete runs. GL
Hi, good to see some interest for this game. First of all, I would recommend you to join the LEGO Discord server (discord tab on the left side) to ask any further questions (it makes routing also very effective). Second, related to your current question, the way this game is layed out is by dividing the game into 6 stories. As every time you beat a story, the credits roll, I decided to separate each story in 1 category each, plus one category for all of them. The categories that you see on the leaderboard are basically the standard definition of "Any%". I also thought that may be some people liked to play with Red Bricks and some may like to play without them. That's why there are separate categories for them. As you can see there are lots of categories already (14 to be exact) and that can be overwhelming to newcomers. Because of that and the fact that I haven't 100%ed the game, we are still working for a definition of 100%. As you know there conquests that are related with multiplayer games and Free Play games (which, in my honest opinion lowers the appeal for the category) and we don't know if that counts towards the IN-GAME 100%. Another note, for each category you can run them from a non-fresh file, because beating every time 25 min of king act 1 is boring (and having to beat the first act of pirate (or earth) to play imperial (or alien) it is just stupid to me). Hope to see you around, and welcome to the community.
They will probably verify all of them. But be patient, sometimes the verification time is longer than what we think.
If you read the rulea, it says that it is banned.
