I WANT SWOLE%

REPAIR HEFTIN WITH HELPULES AND GET OVER 20 WITHOUT A MACRO/AUTO CLICKER RUN ENDS WHEN U GET OVER 20 POINTS

I ALREADY HAVE THE WORLD RECORD 8:48.23! but this would be funny and sick, just like nipple% in SMO

Thoughts?

Will not be adding this as a category, not a lot of room for optimisation or competition

Also, please do not compare Nipple%, which has variance, to a run dependent on mashing speed. I would know as a Mario Odyssey speedrunner.

ok so lets address every reply in 1 comment:

  1. if so long dad can be a category, then my category can very easily become one. its short, sweet, and dumb. goodbye dad can actually be done FASTER then Swole%. and if you think there's no optimization or competition in Swole% then you might as well get rid of GBD%

  2. no offense in any way to nipple%, but its a meme category. yes it has A LOT of depth, but in the end of the day the goal is to get Mario's shirt off as fast as possible. so in THOSE TERMS: Swole% is no different. just seeing how fast you can get your gains. if you genuinely don't find the idea of NIPPLE% funny at all, then I'm sorry. but my point still stands. also, good on you for beating SMO, its a time consuming, super entertaining game to watch and play, but you gotta admit nipple% is a goofy category that speed runners do because "haha nipple funny". its a run that you do, because its funny and it also helps new players get into SMO. My FIRST ever speed run was NIpple%, because it was funny and easier than any other category (at the time I don't know if its changed since). so rather than gatekeep players from playing a game by saying "its not competitive enough" or "it has so much less depth than this other game (made by ONE OF LARGEST GAME COMPANY IN THE WORLD) " this game is basically an Indie game. filled to the brim with memes and charm. so why should we as a community treat it like it isn't?

  3. FNAF, as a series, is almost impossible to speedrun due to its linearity. its only had a handful of games where you could make more than 1 or 2 categories. lets fill out that list and at least give the game a fighting chance to be remembered as "that fnaf game people speed ran" instead of letting it fizzle out into obscurity like the speedruns of Fnaf world and security breach.

  4. its dumb and goofy. we can take this game as seriously as we want, but heftin' with helpules will always be in the game and will be the funniest part of the game. also think about it from a branding perspective. you know what will happen if we get people to start running the category? people will want to get the highest score and become the fastest masher. I can distinctly remember smallant, ludwig, and pointcrow battling it out about 3 years ago to see who of them was the best masher in mario party. and if FNAF gains that ability, the players who join the community would sky rocket. the memes made of the category would not only help spread awareness of Swole%, but also bring new runners to try their skills at the legit categories.

  5. but if there's no persuading anyone, then i'll be sad once the runs of this game end at this forum is never to be found by runners of a newer fnaf game

See Ya Dad is a genuine ending of the game that can be easily done at the very start of the game, but comparing it to quote unquote "sandbox games" like SMO is not a good argument to make. ITP may have a linear story with side quests to get different endings that rank accordingly is nothing like the games you have listed. Sure you can get every collectible and highest score in those games but me personally, you would only ever play Heftin with Hepules unless you are trying to get the 404 Achievement or getting the 3* ending of the game. I've played this game for hours on end and I have barely even touched Helpy's game so there's no point to make a category for a singular arcade game. On top of that, if a category was made for an arcade game within the game itself, the mods would (by assumption) have to make categories for all 8 games which would clutter up the leaderboards and therefore expand their workload by a lot in order to verify and/or reject runs. Not to mention the rules that would apply to each and every category.

first off, i'm really happy that this is starting a lot of conversation. this concept is really interesting to me and i'd like to see more opinions. I'd like to address some concerns i've seen talking about my last post on the subject.

  1. See ya dad is extremely completive. im not denying that, but i am saying that see ya dad is a shorter category than Swole%. if the legitimate concern with Swole% is that its too short and not competitive enough, then we're responsible for a double standard. furthermore, i think people misunderstand how the run is actually played. its not JUST hefin with helpules. you have to start on a clean save file and repair the machine. its not just the mini game. at that point its quite similar to See ya dad, but the win condition is different enough that it shouldn't really matter. again Swole% is a meme category. its not meant to be taken seriously. the entire idea behind it is that Helpy is BUFF and he needs to get his gains.

  2. its not connected to an ending. While yes Swole% doesn't have anything to do with getting 1 of the many endings of the game, why does that matter? Tons of speed runs have win conditions that have nothing to do with beating the game. many of them have you obtaining a certain item, cosmetic, or reaching a certain point in the game. I don't understand why we need to treat itp any differently. is it because FNAF is sacred and im missing something? this is one of the only fnaf games that can be optimized for speed running.

  3. Comparing sandbox games is a bad argument for why this should be a category. the point im making isn't to compare runs of this game to others, its to compare the absurdity of Swole%. its not meant to be taken super seriously. its designed to just be another category that someone can look at, laugh at, and maybe attempt if they so chose. my comparisons to Nipple% (SMO) are so prominent because they're meme categories that are very accessible to newer players. It's funny, those players who think its funny try the category, and maybe they like the game so much they start running other categories. again, this is a meme. Helpules is the funniest thing about ITP. everyone had the same WTF reaction when we saw how BEEFY Helpules was. the same way (and im comparing it again) how everyone thought it was funny when Mario took his shirt off in SMO.

  4. I dont wanna make anyone upset with these posts, but its something I'm genuinely passionate about and I hope that it comes across in these posts that I dont mean any negativity towards the game or the community. all I ask is that we put in the time and effort to ensure this game has the best chances of being run by big names and gets the life it deserves. and if collectively its agreed that a meme category like this can't exist, then i just worry that this game will have a shorter shelf life than it deserves.

  5. also its possible to get 20 without a macro, its just super difficult. like it took me less time to learn Snow Dram, canonless, and almost any wrong warp in OOT, than it took me to get 20 lol. I had 4 people in discord cheering me on when i was practicing lmao.

I get you are passionate, but See ya dad ending as someone said has a goal, that can be achieved by using movement that can get optimised, as opposed to clicking a button or in some cases struggling to verify if someone has rebinds their inputs which we has disallowed.

And comparing this run to SB and World isn’t fair, 2 very different games with their own thriving community, we still get lots of runs for both.
