My only problem with adding extra variations is that there'd be more categories, and have found previously that too many tends to deter people from running the game. Just having shortest/longest would probably be the maximum in this case
I have not really thought about whether other variations are allowed before seeing this thread, except for when I was informed that Lava Loop was not the shortest track by mileage/amount of kilometers and that Jungle Raceway is instead. I'm open to including the other tracks if that is what the other runners want, and as for now, I do not see why other variations could be ran just for fun and the shortest length being the fastest obviously.
Hey everyone - I do plan on making a Discord server for the game, I'm just not entirely sure on when it should be made. This is why I am writing this forum post, as I feel like I would appreciate some input on this.
I personally think the server should be set up when we have around 10 runners at the least, but I have set some other servers up earlier than that.
Thoughts?
A run with music in the background is still allowed to be submitted, it just is quite likely to get less views due to copyright claims. However, depending on the map / level you run, you'll have a claim due to Star Wars music being used anyway, so you should be all good
Washington% is essentially a tutorial run. The objective is to take the two required pictures when loading the Washington area for the first time, and then upon reloading the area after, you need to find and collect a lead ball. Once the objective sound pings, the run is over.
@Wee_Mewon IL stands for Individual Level - so IL runs in this case would be a run per world or one of the missions in said worlds
edit: the ILs on the board are each mission :)
No problem! If you're interested in running the game, I look forward to seeing your run!
Hi, sorry but no, they're not allowed. We could add an "Cheat%" category in the future, but we usually add new categories to games if they're requested and ran :))
I find it kinda funny how in the video you took of the DMs between you and Louie, you made a massive fuss out of private DMs - showing that those messages contradict the ones that come before them, and that you're a massive hypocrite, as not only have you now publicly shown the DMs of TWO mods, you've brought this up THREE times in public altogether now KEKW
and yet, you sent Louie the clown gif?
"How many times must we teach you this lesson, old man??"
Unfortunately, yes, you will have to redo the run with the load remover if you want it on the leaderboard.
As of currently, I don't think we have plans for an All-S Ranks category, but if you and others run it more, it may be a thing in the future!
Hi, I know this is still in the early stages of being built currently, but I just finished an Any% run and would love to be a mod to help out for this leaderboard.
Was wondering if you're planning on adding anyone else?
As long as the DLC stuff isn't used and you submit it under the Base Game subcategory, then it should be accepted. The DLC may have been added quite a while after I ran the game, but that's how other games' leaderboards tend to work - though with how random the DLC hats are, I personally think catching Bugsnax that do have them on should be allowed seeing as it's not guaranteed that you can get all 100 main game Bugsnax without finding one that has an hat, unless you either make sure the DLC update isn't downloaded, or lose time in the run because you've had to reset the area in order to get an standard Snak
Not sure how the mods feel about this
@Suishi having an onscreen timer for console runs is not needed, most of my speedruns haven't had one due to not having an decent PC or capture card until earlier this year.
So don't worry, you can submit just the run without an timer - our mods / verifiers will retime your run to make sure the time is correct :) just make sure that game video and audio are visible and audible, hopefully without any problems with either :)
@Suishi editing videos together isn't allowed, no, but if you stream from your PS4/5, you can highlight the run if streamed on Twitch, or download the stream from YouTube and edit it down to the run, then submit that :)
RTA stands for Real Time Attack, essentially just like starting a stopwatch at when timer starts and stopping it when it ends :)
Framerate counter is no longer required but instead preferred :)
Not to mention that 100% runs now require you to reload checkpoints due to finding out that you can give music sheets and get the Music badge much quicker if you give a sheet, and immediately reload checkpoint
For top times, sure. Minimal deaths and reloads are nearly expected for those - however a top player can still mess up. But the game will always have new players, of which will not be as skillful at certain parts of levels like the Sentinels in Midtown. As for the IGT showing, it seems that isn't to list runs under IGT but to make a solid confirmation that the run was finished/completed
Nah, I still think RTA is the way to go. I feel it's a bit unreasonable to expect people not to die in a run, or reload checkpoint. Either someone makes a mistake, or the game messes up, and people can't help that
